What I'm doing, or not doing, on behalf of the U.S. government is none of your concern. Now, whatever the hell you're up to, do me a favor, stay out of my way.

Knowing Ross can't survive without Wakanda's medical technology, T'challa has him brought with and has Shuri repair his spine with Vibranium. Grateful for the help, Ross returns the favor by helping Black Panther stop Killmonger's coup and keep the secret of how advanced Wakanda is; becoming T'challa's ally in the outside world.

However, his situation got serious, when Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, his ex-wife and the CIA Director, got involved. The ex-couple agreed to work together where she found out he had a new girlfriend or wife. Ross provided Ramonda about the United States' plans for Wakanda; however, Fontaine found out and had Ross arrested, before he was rescued by Okoye
