Synopsis[]

Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by Skrulls.

Plot[]

Everett Ross meets with Agent Prescod in Moscow, whose investigations into particular terrorist attacks drive him paranoid. Prescod tries to convince Ross that a rogue faction of Skrulls has been secretly invading Earth for years and are planning in secret an invasion to take over the planet. Ross, unconvinced that the Skrulls are enemies due to their alliance with Nick Fury, asks for more evidence. Prescod shows him the plans for the Skrulls' next plot but suddenly attacks Ross when he declares contacting Fury. Ross kills Prescod and escapes, being tailed by an unknown man, so he contacts Maria Hill and asks for evacuation. Ross tries to escape his chaser through the streets but dies after failing a jump from a building. However, once Hill catches up to them, she discovers that "Ross" was actually an enemy Skrull, while the man who was chasing him was Talos. Hill contacts Fury and summons him to Earth from the S.A.B.E.R. Space Station.

Fury arrives on Earth and is reunited with Hill and Talos. After Fury extends his condolences for Soren's death, Talos reveals losing his Skrull Council position due to Fury's unfulfilled promise of finding a new home for Skrulls. The radical Gravik has taken his place and, alongside Talos' daughter G'iah, leads a rogue Skrull faction plotting to conquer Earth, starting by inciting a war between the United States and Russia. Hill shows Fury the plans that Prescod intercepted, revealing that Gravik's faction is planning to launch a massive terrorist attack, disguising themselves as the Americans Against Russia political group.

In Washington, D.C., James Rhodes briefs President Ritson on Fury who left S.A.B.E.R. and returned on Earth. Ritson is frustrated, as Fury was tasked with building a crucial aerospace defense system, but he left on his own. Rhodey also informs him about an encrypted message Fury received from Hill, stating that since he cannot reach both of them, they are effectively AWOL. Frustrated, Fury takes a walk on the Moscow streets, where he gets ambushed and kidnapped by MI6 agents, and delivered to his old ally Sonya Falsworth. Despite Fury's attempts to gather information about the Skrull attacks, Falsworth refuses to discuss it, deeming Fury unfit to combat the invasion. She rejects his offer to join forces, advising him to return to S.A.B.E.R. Fury departs, but leaves a concealed camera behind at Falsworth's compound.

A homeless Skrull named Beto comes to an abandoned nuclear site, where he is welcomed by G'iah into New Skrullos, a secret sanctuary for the Skrull refugees. G'iah reveals that Gravik is leading the Skrull Resistance, aiming to make Earth their home where they can live freely in their own skin. The Resistance has been abducting humans, including members of the AAR to execute their plan.

Spying on Falsworth, Fury and his crew find out about Vasily Poprishchin, a potential supplier of dirty bombs for Gravik. Despite Talos' concerns about crossing MI6, Fury insists on pursuing Poprishchin, emphasizing Falsworth's readiness to use extreme measures to halt Gravik. Fury believes they must be equally relentless to prevent the war and protect innocent Skrulls.

Gravik is informed by his right-hand man Pagon that Fury has returned to Earth, but believes he is no longer a threat. Determined to achieve their goal and make Earth their home, they assign G'iah a mission. She is ordered to meet Poprishchin and obtain the bombs from him. G'iah gets to him first before Fury and takes the bombs, however, Hill notices and trails her. Fury and Talos confront Poprishchin and find out that he has been replaced by another Skrull. He fights Talos, accusing him of betrayal, but Fury intervenes, fatally shooting Poprischin.

Hill chases G'iah into a subway tunnel but Gi'ah overpowers her and runs away. Talos pursues her next, saddened by her alliance with the enemy. He reveals Soren's death, implying Gravik's involvement. G'iah is shocked to find out that her mother is dead, but refuses to comply and pushes him away, taking the bombs with her. However, once out of sight, G'iah breaks down in tears, overwhelmed by grief.

Hill sets up a rendezvous with Fury at a local bar, implying that besides building S.A.B.E.R. after the Snap, Fury had lost his edge, hindering his ability to confront Gravik. G'iah brings the bombs to New Skrullos, but suggests postponing the attack due to Fury and his crew's pursuit. Pagon disagrees. In a private meeting with Talos, G'iah, though still angry with him, reluctantly discloses that Gravik's operatives will strike at Vossoyedineniye Square on Unity Day, although she is unsure of the full scale of the attack. G'iah promises to mark the bag containings the bombs for Talos and Fury to find.

Fury, Talos, and Hill go on a mission to intercept the bombs, chasing the Skrull operatives. Talos and Hill capture the couriers only to discover the bags were decoys. As Fury corners Gravik at the square, he detonates the bombs, claiming numerous civilian lives and causing chaos. During the mayhem, Gravik impersonates Fury, ambushes Hill and shoots her in the stomach. As the real Fury comes along, Gravik shifts back to his default human appearance and flees while Hill succumbs to her injuries. Fury and Talos are forced to flee.
