Personality[]
Igarashi is awkward, religious, determined, and pragmatic to a sometimes-lamentable degree. Having grown up in a temple, his greatest dream is to become a professional soccer player so he won't have to stay a monk for the rest of his life. He began as the lowest-ranked player in the entire Blue Lock facility owing to his lack of skill or specialties compared to his fellow teammates, even initially noting that his weapon was his "never give up" attitude. In the First Selection, he had only a few showings of usefulness, such as diving to block a shot from Nagi in the Team V vs. Team Z match. Despite this, his resolve has allowed him to survive longer than anyone would have guessed, and he even helps his teammate Ryusei Shido win in the Second Selection against Reo Mikage and Rensuke Kunigami with his newly developed "Malicia Style," which involves him moving in ways that result in fouling whatever player he's up against, otherwise known as "flopping." He has few close relationships with other Blue Lock contestants due to most viewing him as an annoyance and can be most frequently seen talking to Yoichi Isagi, who started off as the second worst-ranked player.
Igarashi's most notable trait is his pragmatism. He often plays desperately and without reluctance to disadvantage other players. He shows this during the entrance game of tag by trying to kick the ball at Bachira while he appears to be sleeping. Failing that, he then successfully kicked the ball at Kunigami, who was in the middle of scolding Bachira for kicking him, and then proceeded to use Isagi as a human shield when he was at risk of being "it" again. There is little that Igarashi won't do to ensure that he remains in Blue Lock, and he sets out to become the last one standing by any means necessary.
Abilities[]
Archetype[]
Forwards: also known as strikers, have the main objective of scoring goals. They are often the players who get the most attention since their role is designed to be in a scoring position. They also take part in penalty kicks and corner kicks when the opposing team kicks the ball out of bounds. They are normally the players in charge of starting off the game at the start and halftime.
Skills[]
Malicia Dribbling: Igarashi's main dribbling style is to draw out fouls. First, he will make obvious-to-read dribbling motions to make the opposing player let down their guard, then dive onto the player pressing him at the last second, thereby tricking the war into giving them a foul and giving his team a free kick. Igarashi has stated that he has mastered this style to the point where any opponent who comes after his right shoulder will get a foul.
