|I work presently as a Network Engineer and have been in the telecommunications industry for over 30yrs. I am also a Vietnam Era Veteran who served in the USN. I am a firm supporter of Womens reproductive freedoms and abortion rights.
- Give citizens in TN the ability to place things on the ballot to be voted on.
- Womens Healthcare and Reproductive Freedom
- Bringing new industries and skilled jobs to the West Tennessee area.
Womens Healthcare and abortion rights
My Father All 7 of my Uncles My Mother My many Aunts My grandfather.
Man Child in The Promise Land,& A Message To The Blackman in America & Rich Dad Poor Dad & Who Moved The Cheese
A belief in democracy be a supporter of voting rights and have a heart to serve. A love not just for America but that love should include a love for the American system of government.
I am never satisfied and always feel that I can improve.
Represent all of the people of the state the same. And to be honest with the public. Always willing to seek the view of the people even when it conflicts with my own. When an elected official has personal views that contradict the views of the majority they should step down. The needs of the many out way the needs of the few.
As a representative I would like to ensure that I work to support the people of TN having a true voice in our Government by supporting bills, and legislature that leaves a positive impact on the lives of everyday Tennesseans. I intend to listen to my constituents and represent them with integrity.
The Newark Riots. 9 or 10
I was a paperboy that delivered The Newark Evening News. I was 11yrs old.
Man child in the promise land. This book is a story of a young kid growing up in the city and I grew up in Newark, NJ and I could relate to how the main character grew up in an urban environment. This story resonated in the fact that I could be successful in life as an adult despite my humble beginnings.
As an avid music fan, I must say I am constantly singing and listening to music. The last song that was stuck in head not so much but.. well let's just say one of my favorite songs is "Get Here" by Oleta Adams. I was at church Sunday, and the song that moved me was I know I have been changed.
I am an everyday American with real world problems, taxes, kids and day to day living. On another note, I struggled with finding someone that I could beat playing chest on the first ship that I was assigned to when in was in the Navy. I was very young as I was only 19 and everyone else was older than me.
The governor is a part of the executive branch. The state legislator is part of the legislative which rights laws and sets policies. It is not the reasonability of a state legislator to carry the views of the governor when that governor has views that contradict with the peoples. A legislator should stand up for the people against any member of the executive branch that desires to govern against the will of the people.
An equal distribution of wealth and opportunities to West TN. The protection of the public schools system.. Restoring women's reproductive freedom. Giving the voters the ability to petition to have things placed on the ballot for a vote. TN is one of 24 states that does NOT allow its citizens the right to put together a petition. People should be able to vote FOR or AGAINST any law that governs them and their behaviors.
No I don't in fact I think that it's not beneficial at all. People need to be represented by people who have had real world experience. I went to public school before joining the USN. After which I went to college using my GI Bill and have held many jobs and titles both skilled and unskilled. For the past over 30yrs I have worked in the Telecommuncations industry as an Network Engineer. I believe that our government would be better served by people like myself who have had real world experiences.
No I don't because we do not have term limits. I don't believe in age discrimination but I do believe in term limits. It's not good to have legislators who have had relationships longer then an elected member of the executive branch. Relationships without term limits are bad.
Shirley Chisholm
I don't know. Doing this is something I have never done before. Though I am driven and very motivated I haven't given any thought to running to become anything else.
Before this and before Covid I was a volunteer prison minister and mentor for over 15yrs. I have heard a lot of touching stories mostly from people who has once lost their way finding themselves in the criminal justice system. All of those stories have opened my eyes but they have also caused me to wonder and to question. Why don't we stop allowing a citizens criminal record to affect their ability to get a job after they have already been punished. Most of the jobs they are trying to get after prison aren't in a bank or a school or even a hospital. We need to remember that they are returning citizens. They deserve to be forgiven by society. No number of mistakes should define a person for life. Some people really do want to change. I know this to be true.
This was a joke that a professor told me when I was in school and my team's term paper was going to be late because of a freak outage. There was once a timed essay competition between the Satan and Jesus. As they were typing and getting close to the end of the time, the power went out. When the power came back on, there was only 3 minutes left. Satan was frantically typing away and sweating furiously as he typed as fast as he could. Jesus on the other hand, hit print. The devil looked over at Jesus and said, how are you finished? Jesus turned to Satan and said, Jesus Saves. Well we got an F, but this joke always stuck with me.
A Bill that would give the citizens of TN Ballot initiative power. The state is run by a super majority of 74 republican legislators not the people. Without question I consider that to be the single biggest issue we have. Those 74 republicans aren't doing the will of the people.
At this time, I rather not say. I am an independent for a reason.
Educational/Medical/Economic Growth/Judical System
I do not believe that the debt celling should be used as a political tool. But I do believe in financial transparency.
