Biography
Stephens was born on July 3, 1954. His professional experience includes working as a pharmacist. Stephens served on the city council of Garden City from 1992 to 1997.

The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Incumbent J.R. "Ron" Stephens was unopposed in the Republican primary and was unchallenged in the general election.[6][7][8]

Stephens ran in the 2012 election for Georgia House of Representatives District 164. Stephens ran unopposed in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012. Lauren Craddock ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[9] Stephens defeated Lauren Craddock in the general election.[10]
2010
Stephens ran for re-election to the 164th District seat in 2010. He did not have any opposition in the July 20 primary. Stephens defeated Zena Mcclain (D) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[11]
