Rick Strange was a judge on the Texas Eleventh District Court of Appeals. Governor Perry appointed him to this position in October of 2005.[1] Strange resigned from his seat on April 17, 2011.[2] His term was set to end on December 31, 2014 when resigned.[3]
Supreme Court bid

Strange ran for the Texas Supreme Court in 2010. He ran for Place 3 on the Court, which was held by Justice Harriet O'Neill, who was not seeking re-election.[4][5][6] Strange lost the election in a runoff on March 2, 2011.[7]
Education
Justice Strange grew up in Floydada, Texas. He received his B.B.A. in Accounting from Hardin-Simmons University and his law degree from the University of Texas Law School in 1985. He is now married and has two daughters.[1]
Career
Justice Strange began his legal career in 1985 with the firm Cotton, Bledsoe, Tighe and Dawson. He worked with this firm until his appointment to the Court of Appeals in 2005. He became a partner in 1991, and later headed the litigation section. He is certified in civil trial law and oil, gas, and mineral law.[1]
