James Worthen (Republican Party) is the Chief Justice of the Texas Twelfth District Court of Appeals. He assumed office in 2003. His current term ends on December 31, 2026.
Worthen (Republican Party) ran for re-election as Chief Justice of the Texas Twelfth District Court of Appeals. He won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Education
Worthen received a B.S. from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1978, an M.A. from the same school in 1999, a J.D. from the South Texas College of Law in 1980 and an L.L.M. from the University of Virginia in 2004.[1]
Career
Justice Worthen began his legal career in 1980, practicing law with the partnership of Sammons and Parker. Six years later, he joined the firm of Bain, Files, Worthen and Jarrett, P.C. He worked in this capacity until 1999, when he joined the Court of Appeals.[1]
