I am a union nurse and tenant activist. I am the daughter of Haitian immigrants, a CUNY and SUNY graduate, and a life-long Crown Heights resident.

As a field nurse, I provide care directly in people's homes. I see my patients struggling with bad housing and abusive landlords, worried about making making rent. I see patients who are working dangerous jobs and low pay. I see patients who are worried about their immigration status. Being a nurse has strengthened my conviction that our state government is failing working people.

Three years ago I organized a tenant association after my landlord told us he was going to convert our apartments to condos. I'm now the president of my building's tenant association, and participated in a mass civil disobedience in June 2019 as part of the Housing Justice for All campaign - which won some of the strongest tenant protections NY State has ever seen. I hope to continue this fight in the State Assembly.

  • I am nurse , not a career politician .
  • I am the only candidate in this race who promises never to accept corporate PAC and real estate money.
  • I will fight for free universal healthcare, a Green New Deal for New York, and universal rent control.

My policy priorities are housing, healthcare, environment, and labor rights.

As the president of my building's tenant association, I know that we must make rent control universal, so all tenants are protected from eviction and unfair rent increases. We must ensure that NYCHA receives badly needed funds and create housing that is deeply and permanently affordable.

As a nurse, I know that healthcare is a human right. I will work hard to pass the New York Health Act to make free universal healthcare a reality. Healthcare workers who fought COVID-19 have gone without proper protective equipment. We need to ensure that healthcare workers get the resources they deserve and ensure that our hospitals have enough staff to keep patients safe.

Climate change is an existential threat to Brooklyn and to our planet. I'm proudly fighting for a Green New Deal in New York. I'm committed to a transition to 100% clean renewable energy by 2030, an end to the construction of all new fossil fuel infrastructure, new green union jobs, and a power system that is publicly owned and operated. And on top of this we should fund these commitments by taxing the rich and powerful.

As a union member, I care deeply about workers' rights. Every worker should have the right to join a union. I will do everything I can to ensure that workers can collectively bargain, so we can raise wages and increase paid time off.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in New York

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
