|I have lived in the Bronx for my whole life, choosing to raise my family here even when many people decided to leave our borough. I have lived in almost every type of housing represented in our community: NYCHA, rent-controlled walk-up, Mitchell-Lama, rent stabilized, and coop. I have spent my whole life working to help and serve our community, starting with tenant organizing, environmental activism, and electoral campaigning for reform-focused Democrats as a teenager. In the Assembly, I have been one of the most prolific legislators – passing major laws such as the COVID-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Act, the temporary expansion of absentee ballot eligibility during the pandemic, repealing all non-medical exemptions to school vaccine requirements, and more. In our community, I have stood up for the wants and needs of our neighbors – fighting for improved pedestrian safety, standing up to landlords who try to take advantage of tenants, improving our parks, and more.
- I deliver tangible results for our community.
- I will always be honest and direct with you about my beliefs, opinions, and positions – and I will always hear you out, even if we disagree.
- We are strongest when we work together for our health, safety, prosperity, and happiness.
I am passionate about the greatest needs for our community. Right now, those needs are public safety and justice, housing stability, healthcare, and our climate and environment.
I look up to my kids. They have grown to be incredible and inspiring community leaders in their respective areas, and each of their families are powerful reminders of why it is so important to keep fighting for our democratic ideals. I learn so much by watching my kids navigate their way through difficult decisions.
Honesty and candidness. A willingness to work with others, even if we don’t always agree 100% on everything. A thick skin and a sense of humor.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
