Mark Schroeder was a Democratic candidate for mayor of Buffalo, New York. Although defeated in the Democratic primary for mayor, Schroeder was defeated in the general election on November 7, 2017.
Schroeder is a former Democratic member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 145 from 2005 to 2011. In 2011, he resigned after being elected Buffalo City comptroller.[1]
Schroeder is a former Buffalo City comptroller. He served from 2012 to 2019. Schroeder resigned from the office to become the commissioner of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.[2][3]
Biography
Schroeder earned his A.A. from Erie Community College and his B.A. from Empire State College. Schroeder and his wife, Kate Horan, have three children; Matthew, Michael and Allison.[4]
Elections
2017
The city of Buffalo, New York, held an election for mayor and two city judges on November 7, 2017. A primary election occurred on September 12, 2017. In addition to running in the Democratic primary, Schroeder also filed as a Reform Party candidate.
Incumbent Byron Brown (Democratic/Independence/Women's Equality/Working Families) defeated Mark Schroeder (Reform), Anita Howard (Conservative), and Terrence Robinson (Green) in the Mayor of Buffalo general election.[5]
