Campaign themes

Clayborne answered the following about his campaign in a July 2014 interview with the Columbia Daily Herald:[2]

How would you characterize the current relationship between school board and county commission? What would you do to maintain or change it?
The current relationship between the school board and the county commission is less than desired. It has been suggested that commissioners and school board members adopt the attitude of “it is not about me but what is best for the Citizens of Maury County” and I agree.

What do you believe is he most pressing issue facing the school board and how would you address it?
We must develop stronger relationships between Maury County Public Schools and our students, teachers, parents, and community. We should unite as one to create the best school system possible, thus insuring all students are receiving the highest quality K-12 education.

How effective do you believe Eddie Hickman has been as the schools director? Explain.
On the June, 2014 evaluation of Eddie Hickman as a board member, I scored Mr. Hickman a 3.83 on a scale of 1 to 5. While our present version is an improvement, I would prefer to use a more data based evaluation of the Director. [3]
