|Hello, my name is Dr. LaRhonda Williams. I have lived in Fairview, TN, in Williamson County, since 2007. I have a twin sister, and my father is a retired Air Force Lt. Col. Recently, I became a grandmother. I have a deep affection for Williamson County and decided to run for office upon learning about the retirement of our current State Representative, Sam Whitson.
I am filled with hope for the opportunity to bring about meaningful changes that will contribute to the growth of our community. Having lived in various states, I have directly witnessed the tremendous impact of our democratic values and the crucial need to uphold them. Through our combined efforts, we can truly make a difference in advocating for a brighter future for District 65 and Tennessee.
My campaign motto is "continuing the legacy of integrity and community in District 65." Please visit my website, www.larhonda4tn.com, to learn more about me and how I can be of service if elected the next State Representative of House District 65.
- Continuing state funding for public schools
- Common sense gun reform
- Women's reproductive freedom
I am passionate about working for the betterment of others and ensuring all citizens have access to health care.
My professional work experience has been in state government and non-profit organizations. I have worked with people from all walks of life and various circumstances. As a team member with the TN Department of Health, I provide research to answer questions about infectious diseases and offer evidence-based research to promote healthy communities and individuals within the state. Ultimately, the state deserves someone who is not afraid to make difficult decisions for the betterment of the state rather than for the popularity or longevity of a political party.
My mother. I lost her in 2023, but she always remains the only person I have admired and looked up to.
Walden by Henry David Thoreau and The Power of Moments by Chip Heath and Dan Health.
Integrity and humility.
I am humble and willing to listen. I have over 28 years of experience in law enforcement, education, and public service.
Willingness to learn from others, respect and appreciate differences, and find common ground when making decisions.
A fighter for District 65, always putting the community first in every decision.
I was sad, watching Space Shuttle Challenger in 1986. I was in class that day, excited as the first teacher was being launched into space. It was a sad day for me.
Working at Burger King at the age of 16. I mentioned that I have a twin sister and I am an Air Force Brat. My sister and I flipped a coin. I was hoping to work at the BX but lost the coin flip. However, Burger King taught me a lot about the responsibility of others. I still love ordering a Whooper with no tomatoes, lol.
The Goodness of God by CeCe Winans.
An open line of communication to ensure each branch is on the same page.
There is enormous tension between the political parties based on power and decision-making influence. In 2024, we will see more balance in leadership. The balance will result in healthier decisions and discussions about the future of Tennessee.
Experience in working with state government would be more beneficial.
Yes. Building relationships with other legislators will allow each member to learn about their counties and areas of interest.
Sam Whitson and the late Lois DeBerry.
Not sure at this point.
Yes. The people of Fairview are looking for a voice to represent their views and values. As a resident, I am proud of our city and believe we need more Fairview and Williamson County advocates.
Minimum Wage: The General Assembly needs to focus on strategies to enhance financial security for individuals and families in Tennessee. The minimum wage in TN has not been raised since 2009. Senate Bill 2670 proposes an increase to $15.00 an hour, with the implementation set for 2027. However, we must urgently address this issue due to rising housing costs and basic needs. A higher minimum wage will give individuals the confidence to provide for themselves and their families to prepare for the future.

Health, Safety, and Education.
Financial transparency and government accountability are essential principles for any government agency. Citizens should have access to records and a direct line of communication to inquire about expenditures. If elected, I am committed to providing clear answers to all questions so that citizens can hold me accountable. I will also work with other state representatives to ensure that Tennessee is fiscally responsible in all its actions.
The state ballot initiative process would be suitable for Tennessee.
