|Born and raised in Memphis, TN and a product of Memphis City Schools and Memphis State University. Married with one son who decided to become a doctor in his late 30's and now lives and practices in New York, NY. Past President of the Memphis World Trade Club and a 9 year officer. I am a 26+ gallon blood donor and achieved the rank of Life Scout while in Boy Scouts of America. Animal lover who rescues stray cats that get dumped in the neighborhood and then I have the cats spayed/neutered and provide shelter, food and companionship as they live their lives out. At the end of the day, I am just a civic minded individual who feels I still have a lot to contribute to this community
- As an Independent candidate I don't have to pander to party politics to please either side. I can vote using common sense and always striving to "do the right thing" for the people in my District. I never forget that I work for them and nobody else!
- Crime...we need a fresh approach on crime and punishment, obviously what we have been doing doesn't work. Parents need to be held accountable for their children and quit making excuses so let's all get together and brainstorm on finding solutions to the problem. No one person can fix the problems by themselves, but each of us can take a step and get the process started and on track.
- Education....our public schools need revamping to train our young people for the real world outside of reading, writing and math skills. While those are extremely important for a base core, the adult working world is so much more complex and the needs are also great in the vocation schools and social services fields etc.
Establishing a level playing field for ALL people! Education is the key to a good job and a chance to live the "American Dream". Research and eliminate areas where our tax dollars are being wasted to help reduce future tax hikes. Also we need to start the process of state infrastructure repairs on a larger scale of our older bridges, water/sewer/gas lines and public building (which may have lead paint, mold or asbestos issues.
People who appear to have a good moral fiber and are not afraid to fight for a cause they truly believe in no matter what the political cost.
Film-John Wayne westerns for examples of always standing by your convictions and principals. Book-To Kill a Mockingbird for examples of not letting others stand in your way for doing the right thing.
Always tell the truth, don't dodge responsibility, admit when wrong and always strive to do what is right!
Honesty, common sense and ability to work with others.
Honesty, common sense and don't be afraid to be flexible as things change.
That I helped others achieve their dreams and goals and did it the right way.
I was in grade school when I heard about the death of President Kennedy
Working at Burger Chef at the age of 15. Lasted through the school year until I got a summer job with a neighborhood brick layer and worked my way through high school and some of college.
"To Kill a Mockingbird" because it deals with so many life issues that we still struggle with today.
Someone with the ability to heal others. Spiritually, mentally and emotionally.
"Scenes from an Italian Restaurant"-Billy Joel
I have the same struggles as most other people, none more or less important. Life is life, so adjust and make the best of it that you can.
Give and take, nobody ever gets everything they want so learn how to compromise or nothing gets done....
Cutting government waste, criminal justice system reform, education reform, addressing poverty, adequate health care, environmental concerns, homelessness and affordable housing for low income residents which in turn helps decrease blight.
You need experienced legislators who know the ropes, but also new ones are needed for fresh ideas and new approaches.
Yes no man is an island. Exchanging of ideas is important in forming voting bonds and growing as a legislator.
All the outstanding ones and none of the bad ones.
Most people that I have spoken with feel that their elected officials don't live in their world therefore don't understand their daily struggles. Lets start changing that!
When one door closes, another one opens. Other than that, it's a pretty good car!
Both should be considered, under the proper vetting and discussions.
Will all depend on what the residents of District 86 feel will effect they daily lives the most.
Most everyone who knows me and/or signed my qualifying petition
Crime & Education for a start, but I feel I can contribute good ideas on any committee to which I am appointed.
Government works for the people and we often forget that when elected. Try to explain what the money is for, where it goes and how it will be/was spent to the best of your ability.
Needs more research and discussion
