Campaign website

Gerow's campaign website stated the following:

THE RULING CLASS

The biggest issue confronting us is not an issue, it’s a mindset. It is the mindset of career politicians who truly believe that they are an elite class above the rest of us, that they are smarter than us, even more righteous than us, and that the rules do not apply to them.

This attitude echoes through every one of their actions, and it is undermining the freedom of all of us. Charlie believes that government officials should be the servants of the people – not their lords and masters. And he is completely committed to stamping out that elitist attitude in every part of his administration.

Charlie will introduce a Constitutional Amendment allowing the people to recall any governor who thinks he or she is a king.

CHARLIE IS FROM THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE.

AGRICULTURE

Pennsylvania agriculture is both culturally and economically the staple of our Commonwealth and it must be supported. Charlie will develop a Made in Pennsylvania approach to marketing farm produce and meat, both with the development of a state database that people can visit to find and buy from their local farms. He will also create a Made in Pennsylvania label to let people know that they are buying products made in our Commonwealth. Additionally, Charlie understands that the restrictions on energy production have caused farmer input costs to triple and will remove Tom Wolf’s energy restrictions. Charlie will work to create additional processing facilities for both meat and dairy.

EDUCATION

Every Pennsylvania child has a constitutional right to a “thorough and efficient education”. Charlie is a strong supporter of a world class education for every Pennsylvania student.

Sadly, too many of our schools are failing our kids. Charlie believes that no child should be trapped in a failing school. He wants to give parents the ability to select the education that works best for their children, whether it is public, private, or homeschool. From the start he has been a vocal supporter of school choice, helping to enact the EITC and working for its expansion. Charlie believes that education dollars should follow the student.

Charlie believes that parents are in charge of the health and welfare of their children and that they should have a transparent view of what’s being taught in our classrooms. Education should not mean indoctrination. Charlie believes radical political agendas such as Critical Race Theory and Project 1619 have no place in Pennsylvania’s schools. As a former high school basketball coach, he is absolutely opposed to men playing on women’s teams.

Charlie will insist that we get back to basics, including teaching civics. He believes that every high school senior in Pennsylvania should be required to pass the basic citizenship test required of naturalized citizens.

GUN OWNER’S RIGHTS

Charlie knows that with the over 20,000 gun laws and regulations currently operating in Pennsylvania, the rhetoric of “passing common sense gun laws” is fundamentally dishonest.

In addition to fully supporting our 2nd Amendment Rights, as Governor, Charlie takes an oath to uphold Pennsylvania’s Constitution, which states that the right of Pennsylvania citizens to bear arms “shall not be questioned”. He intends to keep that oath.

ELECTION INTEGRITY

Charlie believes that if we can’t trust the results, there are no winners. He has been consistent in calling for election integrity, making sure that every properly cast vote is allowed and that every properly cast vote is properly counted. He has been a consistent supporter of Voter Identification.

Act 77, which gave us widespread mail-in voting in Pennsylvania, was a complete disaster and has sent our state elections into chaos. Charlie would NOT have voted for Act 77 and believes it should be repealed.

When questions arise about the practices of any business, the first step in answering those questions is often an audit. It is beyond disturbing that anyone in government would oppose such an audit, for 2020 or any election. Charlie believes the voters of Pennsylvania deserve real answers to what happened in the past, election laws that follow our Constitution, and absolute transparency in how our votes are counted.

ENERGY

Charlie actually coined the term “Gold Mine Beneath our Feet” in referring to the trillions of cubic feet of Pennsylvania natural gas. The war on coal and natural gas echoes through every area of our economy, killing jobs, raising prices and crippling Pennsylvania’s working families.

Charlie will remove unreasonable restrictions and make Pennsylvania an energy exporter, bringing lower prices and economic health to our citizens. Charlie will promote a pro Pennsylvania energy policy, supporting all forms of Pennsylvania energy.

Additionally, Charlie will remove Pennsylvania from the ill-conceived and improperly enacted Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) which is an additional tax on Pennsylvanians imposed by Tom Wolf.

SANCTITY OF LIFE

Charlies has always been a staunch supporter of the right to life. He believes that life begins at conception and would sign a Heartbeat Bill and a Down Syndrome Bill. He supports providing women facing problem pregnancies with positive alternatives to enable them to choose life. As an adopted child, Charlie has consistently advocated for making adoption more accessible. After watching the travesty that unfolded in Pennsylvania’s nursing homes during COVID, Charlie promises to protect those at the end of life with the same dedication he brings to our unborn.

TAXES

Charlie believes the time to get rid of the personal property tax is long overdue. He also believes that our business taxes are too high, making Pennsylvania less competitive. Our Corporate Net Income Tax (CNI) has not been adjusted in nearly 25 years. Charlie will make sure it is significantly reduced. Additionally, Charlie believes Pennsylvania taxpayers deserve a significant tax cut by lowering the income tax.

Charlie has been fighting for taxpayers for years. In fact, he is one of only two Pennsylvanians to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from Citizens Against Higher Taxes. Charlie knows that when something is taxed you get less of it. Charlie will work, as he always has, to keep Pennsylvania taxes low, allowing people to keep more of their hard-earned dollars and decide for themselves how to best spend their money.[4]
