Loonan's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[9]
Transportation
- Excerpt: "Tax dollars should be used to benefit our community by making our roads better; not going toward the light rail. If the rail system is going to be our future public transportation then we should use commuter trains that can rely on existing tracks and cost a fraction of the light rails to operate. We should be able to use our tax dollars to benefit our roads."
Education
- Excerpt: "Right now we have a problem because public education is trying to be all things to all people, which is costing us results. School districts should be required to prioritize programs based on effectiveness of teaching students to learn. Effective budgeting can then be done. Education is the biggest item on the State budget and if elected I promise to make improving our State's education a top priority."
Taxes
- Excerpt: "Simply put our tax code is too complex. The booklet to determine tax with-holdings is 40 pages long. If elected I will work to get a tax code that is simpler."
Life
- Excerpt: "As the father of four, nothing is more important to me and my wife Denise than our children. I know how precious each life is and you can count on me to stand for life and protect the unborn."
Guns
- Excerpt: "I understand the importance of responsible gun owners and our right to bear arms, and I will always fight to protect our second amendment freedoms and gun rights."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
