Alicia Preston is a Republican political consultant operating in the state of New Hampshire. She was a New Hampshire consultant and press secretary for We the People, Not Washington PAC, a Super PAC in support of George Pataki.[1] Previously, Preston consulted for Pataki's 21st Century Freedom PAC and worked as communications director for former governor of New Hampshire Craig Benson.[2]
Career
Alicia Preston began her career in journalism, working as a reporter and news director before getting into political communications.[3] In 2004, she joined the office of Craig Benson, then-governor of New Hampshire, as the communications director and served as press secretary until January 2005, when Benson left office.[4]
After Benson failed to win re-election, Preston began work at Meridian Strategies, a consulting firm co-founded by Michael Biundo. Biundo is currently the chief New England strategist for Rand Paul's 2016 presidential campaign. Preston and Biundo also worked together on Frank Guinta's 2005 campaign for mayor of Manchester, N.H., as well as Guinta's 2010 U.S. House campaign.[5]
Preston also served as the national press secretary for Pataki's 21st Century Freedom PAC in 2006 and 2007.[3] Preston led the PAC's offices in Manchester, N.H., and served as a spokesperson for Pataki while he considered running in the 2008 presidential election.[6]
In 2007, Preston started The PReston Group, "a communications and public relations consulting firm which specializes in political organizations, corporate PR efforts and government affairs."[7] In 2013, she launched a new company, Mitigating Strategies, to assist business with government regulations.[7]
George Pataki presidential campaign, 2016
In February 2015, Alicia Preston joined the staff of We the People, Not Washington PAC, a Super PAC in support of George Pataki, as the group's press secretary. At the time, Preston said: "I am very excited to again be working with Governor George Pataki and his team in an effort to spread the message of empowering the individual, reducing the size and scope of government, and expanding individual freedom."[8]
On May 28, 2015, George Pataki announced his presidential bid via a video posted on his campaign website, before speaking to a crowd of supporters in New Hampshire.[9][10] Pataki suspended his presidential run on December 29, 2015.[11]
