Violence at recruitment centers in Ukraine escalating

By Lucas Leiroz | December 24, 2024

Ukraine’s draconian recruitment policies are reaching intolerable levels of violence, resulting in more and more victims. Recently, a man was murdered by the military while trying to prevent his son from being forcibly sent to the front. This is just one of many scandals involving the brutal way in which recruitment officers treat ordinary Ukrainian citizens, which shows how Kiev is completely lost, with no chance of continuing the war in the long term.

Recently, a video began circulating on the internet showing the murder of a man inside a Ukrainian training center. According to reports from photographers and internet users, the motive for the murder was that the man was trying to prevent the forced recruitment of his son by Ukrainian officers. The case was reported by Artyom Dmitruk, a former Ukrainian parliamentarian exiled in London who has become a critic of Zelensky’s policies. Ukrainian authorities are still silent about the incident, neither confirming nor refuting Dmitruk’s claims.

The video is absolutely disturbing. A woman can be heard screaming as soldiers force a man to walk down a stair. Two shots are then heard, with the man falling to the ground and the woman screaming desperately. According to Dmitruk, the incident took place in Odessa. He claims that not only was the recruit’s father killed, but the soldier himself is now at risk of death, as the Ukrainian military may want to eliminate him to prevent the truth about the case from coming to light. … continue

Elon Musk’s AfD Endorsement Triggers EU Push for Stricter Censorship Under Digital Services Act

By Cindy Harper | Reclaim The Net | December 23, 2024

Elon Musk’s endorsement of Germany’s Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has sparked significant controversy, particularly among European political figures concerned about the potential for what they call “foreign interference” in Germany’s upcoming elections.

Musk, the CEO of X, voiced his support for some of AfD’s policies following a deadly terror attack in Germany. His comments have raised alarm among EU officials, prompting calls for increased scrutiny of the X app and its compliance with the EU’s stringent censorship laws.

Thierry Breton, the European Union’s former Commissioner, took to X to express his outrage over Musk’s support for AfD. In a tweet posted on December 21, Breton accused Musk of being involved in “foreign interference” in Germany’s electoral process, especially given the timing of his comments around the tragic attack in Magdeburg. … continue

American Tax Dollars: $4.8M for Ukrainian Influencers

Sputnik – 23.12.2024

The US State Department spent nearly $5 million on Ukrainian influencers, a move highlighted by Republican Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky as one of the most absurd expenditures by the US government in 2024.

Despite American taxpayers providing nearly $174 billion in aid and military assistance to Kiev since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, “someone over at State thought it was a brilliant idea to drop an additional $4.8 million for ‘Ukraine public affairs – Influencer Staff’,” Paul noted in his annual Festivus Report on government waste.

The senator urged a return to “serious diplomacy” instead of relying on social media strategies, emphasizing that many American taxpayers struggling to meet their basic needs are funding this spending on Ukraine.

Paul said it is “baffling” to see the US government burning through taxpayer dollars at a time when Americans are “scraping by.”

In total, the 41-page report covers over $1 trillion in what the senator describes as “government waste.”

Earlier, in an interview with NBC News, US President-elect Donald Trump remarked that under his administration, Kiev is unlikely to receive the same levels of aid it enjoyed during Joe Biden’s presidency.

Fact-checking Fortune: Has Polio Vaccine Saved 20 Million Children From Paralysis?

The Defender | December 23, 2024

A Dec. 13 article in Fortune called the polio vaccine used in the U.S. today “not only safe but also effective.”

The article also claimed that because 3 billion children have been vaccinated against polio since 1988, according to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, that means “20 million people who would’ve otherwise been paralyzed by polio are walking today.”

How accurate is the 20 million figure?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) website, in 1988, there were 350,000 reported polio cases worldwide in a global population of 5.1 billion people. If, as the WHO website states, “One in 200 infections leads to irreversible paralysis,” that would amount to 1,750 cases of irreversible paralysis linked to polio in 1988.

Using that figure — 1,750 cases in 1988 — and factoring in 1.2% annual population growth, the estimated number of cases of irreversible paralysis between 1988 and 2024 would total approximately 80,910 — not 20 million, as Fortune reported.

Here are four other facts about polio vaccines the Fortune article doesn’t address. … continue

Business as Usual: US Pursues Research Linked to Weapons of Mass Destruction

Sputnik – 23.12.2024

The US government plans to spend nearly $35.9 million over the next four years on research related to weapons of mass destruction, quietly slipping this information into an otherwise bland online statement.

The FY25-29 Strategic Trends Research Initiative Broad Agency Announcement invites “strategic research on challenges related to weapons of mass destruction (WMD) 5-10 years in the future,” aligning with the mission of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).

The announcement paints a noble picture of DTRA’s focus on countering WMD threats and preparing for conflict involving chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) adversaries.

However, this is the same DTRA responsible for the so-called Biological Threat Reduction Program in Ukraine, which conveniently translated into operating a network of questionable biolabs accused of covert biowarfare research and conducting ethically dubious experiments on local populations.

With that track record, one can only speculate what kind of “research” this new WMD initiative will fund.

UK’s Ofcom to Enforce Age Verification Using Facial Recognition Under Online “Safety” Act

The move could set a global precedent for facial recognition in online age verification

By Didi Rankovic | Reclaim The Net | December 23, 2024

The UK’s communications regulator Ofcom will in January come out with requirements that online platforms will have to meet in order to enforce age verification, expected to be “highly accurate.”

Judging by the statements made now by Ofcom’s Online Safety Policy Director Jon Higham, the method will involve some type of facial recognition.

The result could be the blocking of “millions” of minors, while this is happening as a consequence of the country’s controversial online censorship law, the Online Safety Act. … continue

Dozens detained, several wounded in Israeli raids in occupied West Bank

Press TV – December 23, 2024

Israeli forces have injured several Palestinians and detained dozens more in different raids across the occupied West Bank.

Occupation forces launched a large-scale arrest campaign in the Fawwar refugee camp, south of the city of al-Khalil on Monday, during which four people were detained and nearly 100 others held at the youth club of the camp that was turned into a field investigation center, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society.

Posting pictures of the campaign, the Shehab news agency reported that the Israeli troops had “abused dozens of detainees” during their raid.

The Israeli forces also closed all entrances and exits of the camp and prohibited movement inside.

It was the third raid on the camp within 24 hours.

Israeli forces launched another large-scale arrest campaign in the town of Tuqu, east of Bethlehem, abducting at least 25 Palestinians. … Full article

The West Bank’s CIA men: Why is the PA killing Palestinians in Jenin?

By Ramzy Baroud | MEMO | December 23, 2024

Following a ten-day siege, the Palestinian Authority began a violent raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank on 14 December. The PA security forces used tactics similar to those used by the Israeli occupation forces in their routine attacks on the area.

The camp, which is a mere half a square kilometre in size, hosts an ever-growing population of 24,000 refugees, mostly the descendants of Palestinians ethnically cleansed by Zionist militias during the great catastrophe, the 1948 Nakba.

The raid began with a tight siege, followed by an attack from multiple directions that resulted in the killing of an unarmed youth, Rebhi Al-Shalabi, 19, then a 13-year-old boy, Muhammad Al-Amer. The PA forces also killed Yazid Ja’ayseh, the commander of the Jenin Brigades, who had evaded Israeli assassination attempts for his leadership role in unifying all Palestinian Resistance fighters under the umbrella of a single group. … continue

Oxfam says only 12 trucks delivered aid in North Gaza amid Israeli siege since October

Press TV – December 23, 2024

The charity group Oxfam says only 12 trucks were able to distribute aid to trapped people in the besieged North Gaza governorate in the past two and a half months, amid Israel’s “deliberate delays and systematic obstructions.”

“Of the meager 34 trucks of food and water given permission to enter the North Gaza Governorate over the last 2.5 months, deliberate delays and systematic obstructions by the Israeli military meant that just twelve managed to distribute aid to starving Palestinian civilians,” Oxfam said Sunday.

The group noted that the aid distributed by three of the trucks was destroyed by the Israeli forces.

“For three of these, once the food and water had been delivered to the school where people were sheltering, it was then cleared and shelled within hours.” … Full article

“Greater Israel” Metastasizes

By Kevin Barrett | American Free Press | December 22, 2024

“Israel is a cancer on the Middle East.” Resistance leaders across the region have used that metaphor for generations. The Zionists who dominate American politics, finance and media have attacked it as inappropriate.

But is the metaphor inaccurate? Cancer occurs when a diseased cell or cells begin uncontrollably expanding at the expense of neighboring cells and organ systems. Israel, a malignant body of extremist fanatics implanted into the heart of the Middle East, keeps mindlessly and voraciously expanding, not unlike a virulent tumor. Such pathological Zionist growth has caused untold pain, suffering, and hardship for the people of Palestine, the region, and the world.

Let’s chart Israel’s malignant growth. … continue

Al-Manar | December 23, 2024

Lebanese Labor Minister Mustafa Bayram affirmed that Lebanon, with all its components, has fully adhered to the ceasefire agreement without recording any violations. In contrast, he noted, “The Israeli enemy has committed 280 violations.”

In an interview on Al-Manar TV on Sunday evening, Bayram said, “What is happening is presented to the Lebanese people, both supporters and opponents.”

He also emphasized that “the resistance is acting realistically but will not remain silent if the Israeli enemy continues its violations.” … Full article

German AfD chancellor candidate tops poll – Bild

RT | December 23, 2024

The co-leader of the right-wing AfD (Alternative for Germany) party, Alice Weidel, is ahead of her rivals in the campaign to become the next chancellor, according to the latest survey conducted by the INSA polling institute for Bild.

The results of the poll, published by the tabloid newspaper on Sunday, showed that Weidel has the support of 24% of respondents, putting her ahead of the leader of Germany’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Friedrich Merz, who received 20%.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who represents the Social Democratic Party (SPD), was reportedly backed by 15% of respondents. His coalition partner and Green Party leader, Robert Habeck, was favored by 14%.

The AfD named Weidel, 45, as its first chancellor candidate on December 7, setting out the bid for power ahead of snap elections scheduled for February 23. Weidel is due to be confirmed as the AfD’s nominee at a party conference next month.

In an interview with Bloomberg last week, Weidel accused the EU of destroying the German auto industry, the country’s economic pillar, and proposed winding back the bloc to a free-trade zone.

Earlier this month, the AfD stated in its draft election manifesto that Germany should leave the bloc and the euro in Brexit-like fashion, calling for a referendum on the issue. … Full article

Ukrainian draftee’s father shot dead at conscription center – MP

RT | December 23, 2024

A Ukrainian man has been shot dead at a conscription center after his son was snatched by draft officers, an exiled MP has claimed.

The incident, which has not been confirmed by Ukrainian officials, was reported on Sunday by Artyom Dmitruk, a London-based Ukrainian lawmaker highly critical of Kiev’s current policies. He shared a video purportedly showing the moment of the shooting.

In the short clip, a woman filming the events can be heard shouting “take your hands off him” as a person is being forced to walk down a set of stairs. Two loud bangs resembling gunshots are then heard, and the person appears to fall down as the woman screams.

According to Dmitruk, the man was killed on the spot and his son’s life is now at risk. He claimed that “murders at conscription centers have become normalized.” The incident allegedly occurred in the port city of Odessa. … continue

Moldovan President Sandu Plans to Seize Transnistria Power Station – Russian Intel Service

Sputnik – 23.12.2024

Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said that Moldovan President Maia Sandu had demanded that the country’s government prepare a plan to take over the Cuciurgan power station in Transnistria.

Sandu held a meeting with the Moldovan government to discuss the country’s energy security issues, the SVR said in a statement on Monday. During the meeting, the president “lost her temper” after hearing a report by Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean on the potential energy supply problems Moldova could face after the expiration of the Russia-Ukraine natural gas transit agreement on December 31, the statement read.

“The president was not sobered by the reminder that the right bank of Moldova is almost entirely dependent on electricity supplies from the Cuciurgan power station in Transnistria. After ‘flying into a rage,’ the president demanded that preparations be made for a violent seizure of the power station,” the SVR said.

Sandu flatly refused to discuss the issue of Moldova’s energy supplies with the Ukrainian authorities after the gas transit agreement expired, the statement added. The president said that if Moscow did not supply Moldova with natural gas, Chisinau would “take revenge” on Transnistria, according to the SVR.

The meeting concluded with Sandu’s remarks about the need to develop a military operation plan to establish control over Transnistria and eliminate the Russian peacekeeping presence in the region, the SVR said. … continue

Zelensky lashes out at EU state’s PM over Moscow visit

RT | December 23, 2024

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has criticized a surprise visit to Moscow by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on Sunday, describing it as indicative of “murky schemes” between Bratislava and Moscow.

On Monday, Zelensky alleged on social media that Russia was offering Fico substantial discounts on gas supplies. The prime minister is paying for these benefits with his nation’s “sovereignty,” the Ukrainian leader claimed, adding that “this should be a matter of concern for Slovakia’s law enforcement and special services.”

He said Bratislava’s engagement with Moscow was “a big security issue” for the whole of Europe and raised rhetorical questions as to “what is being paid to” Fico and what he provides in return.

Neither Moscow nor Bratislava mentioned any particular discounts relating to the gas supply contracts. On Sunday, Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Tomas Taraba said Fico’s visit to Moscow was about getting gas at “normal prices.”

“It’s funny how the opposition cries out for the government to stop raising gas prices, but when the government goes to negotiate a cheap source of gas, they consider it a betrayal of the allies,” he wrote on Facebook, referring to several opposition politicians, who had criticized the visit. He argued that those insisting on alternative supply sources eventually just offer “repackaged Russian gas with… overpriced transaction costs.”

“Their approach is a betrayal of Slovaks,” he said.

Zelensky also claimed in his post that the Slovak government did not want to “seek replacement for Russian gas,” and was therefore assisting Moscow in “pushing American gas and energy resources of other partners away from Europe.” He stated that Kiev considers “such assistance” to Moscow “immoral.” … Full article

Hungary to Maintain Energy Ties With Russia As No ‘Better Offer’ Exists

Sputnik – 23.12.2024

Hungary does not intend to abandon its energy cooperation with Russia in the absence of a cheaper and more reliable alternative, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told RIA Novosti.

“Russia has been a reliable partner for us when it comes to energy supplies, that’s a fact, and in such serious issues like energy security, you only change your reliable source in case you have a better offer. But we don’t have a better offer, we don’t have an offer for more reliable or cheaper neither more reliable nor cheaper source to utilize. So why would we walk away from our energy cooperation with Russia?” Szijjarto said.

The minister emphasized that the issue of energy belongs to the realm of physical infrastructure and not politics. … continue

Trump should leverage Arctic for Ukraine peace – analyst

RT | December 23, 2024

US President-elect Donald Trump would succeed in talks with Russia to end the Ukraine conflict by offering to lift sanctions on the Northern Sea Route and invite Western carriers to utilize Moscow’s project in the Arctic, an opinion piece in Responsible Statecraft magazine has suggested.

Trump’s campaign promise to swiftly stop the fighting between Moscow and Kiev “seemed increasingly out of reach,” Lyle J. Goldstein, a research professor at the China Maritime Studies Institute (CMSI) at the US Naval War College wrote in his article on Friday.

As the Russian military “continues its slow but steady advance,” Putin could have decided “to push for a more complete Russian military victory and defy any near-term Western peace overtures,” he said.

“It is hard to imagine that dispatching more arms to Ukraine and slapping more sanctions on Russia will be successful at achieving peace,” Goldstein stressed.

However, Trump still has a chance “to break from the status quo and entice Russia to end the war” by making the situation in the Arctic – where a struggle for dominance between world powers has been intensifying in recent years – part of the negotiations, he wrote. … continue

Righty Tighty: A Simple Way Donald Trump Can End the Ukraine and Israel Wars

By Adam Dick | Ron Paul Institute | December 22, 2024

Upon his inauguration as president, Donald Trump will become the leader of a United States executive branch mired in two major wars via its continuing pumping of money, weapons, and intelligence into support of the Ukraine and Israel governments. Trump has declared his opposition to the continuation of these wars. But, how can he end them?

The means by which Trump can end the wars is simpler than many Americans think. This means just does not come to mind for many Americans because it is far removed from the course US presidents have tended to pursue over the last few decades.

Righty tighty. That’s it. Taking the US out of these wars is as simple as turning off a standard outdoor water faucet. President Joe Biden has turned the handle all the way lefty loosey. Trump should just turn it back all the way. Shut off the money flow. Shut off the weapons flow. Shut off the intelligence flow.

And there is no good reason for Trump to take his time about it. He should turn off the flow of aid in all forms promptly in his presidency.

Doing so would comport with Trump’s stated objectives regarding the Ukraine War and the Israel War during his campaign and since. Trump has repeated his promise to end the Ukraine War in a day. He has also commented on multiple occasions that he wants the Israel War over before he is even sworn in as president. Without US support, Ukraine and Israel lack the means to continue their wars. Deprived of the means to continue fighting in anywhere near the strength they have, both governments will immediately find themselves in a new situation where their best option is to seek peace. … continue

Panama responds to Trump’s threat to retake vital waterway

RT | December 23, 2024

President Jose Raul Mulino has addressed the nation in response to US President-elect Donald Trump’s threat to retake control of the Panama Canal, a vital waterway that contributes billions of dollars to the Panamanian economy annually and serves as a crucial artery for global trade.

In his video address on Sunday, Mulino emphasized that the sovereignty and independence of the country are “non-negotiable” and underscored the canal’s significance as part of the “history of struggle and an irreversible conquest.”

“Every square meter of the Panama Canal and its adjacent area belongs to Panama, and it will continue to be so,” Mulino declared.

Over the weekend, Trump expressed outrage on Truth Social and during a speech at the AmericaFest conference over what he called “exorbitant” fees charged for the passage of American vessels through the canal, accusing Panama of exploiting the United States with excessive fees. … continue

Panama’s Sovereignty is Not for Sale: Colombian President Slams Trump’s Canal Remarks

Sputnik – 23.12.2024

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has expressed support for Panama’s independence and sovereignty in the wake of US President-elect Donald Trump’s remarks about his intention to return the Panama Canal to American ownership due to high tariffs for passage through it.

Trump said on Sunday that he would demand a quick return of the Panama Canal to US ownership due to high fees for its passage. The politician said that the Panama Canal was critically important for US trade, as well as for the rapid deployment of US Navy forces in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. He added that the United States was the largest user of the canal, providing over 72% of all passage through it.

“I will be on the side of Panama and the defense of its sovereignty … If the new US administration wants to talk business, we will talk business face to face and for the good of our people, but we will never negotiate honor and dignity,” Petro said on X. … Full article

EU risks losing gas supplies from Qatar – energy minister

RT | December 22, 2024

Qatar will stop gas shipments to the EU if member states enforce new legislation on carbon emissions, the Gulf nation’s energy minister Saad al-Kaabi has told the Financial Times (FT). Qatar has become an important supplier to the bloc after Brussels resolved to wean itself off Russian gas following the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022.

If any EU country imposes penalties on Qatar under the bloc’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, Doha would stop exporting its liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the bloc, al-Kaabi told the outlet on Sunday.

QatarEnergy, the state-owned energy company, has long-term LNG contracts with several EU countries, including Germany, France, Italy, and the Netherlands.

The EU’s corporate due diligence rules, adopted in May 2023, are part of the bloc’s strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The legislation states that non-compliance is punishable with fines of up to 5% of the company’s annual global revenue. Al-Kaabi argued that such fines would significantly impact QatarEnergy’s revenue, which directly supports the state of Qatar and its citizens. … continue

Another New Study Reports A Lack Of A Long-Term Warming Trend Across Antarctica

By Kenneth Richard | No Tricks Zone | December 5, 2024

Even though atmospheric CO2 rose from 337 ppm in 1979 to 420 ppm in 2022, there is no evidence of a warming trend across Antarctica during this period.

According to a new study, Antarctica’s station data indicate a pronounced cooling trend by over -1°C (-0.53°C per decade) from 1979-1999. The cooling trend thereafter slowed to a pause (-0.004°C per decade) from 1999-2022.

“Reanalysis” data reveal a less pronounced -0.43°C per decade cooling trend from 1979-1999, but a reversal to a +0.29°C per decade warming trend from 1999-2022.

Both the station data and the reanalyzed data affirm an overall long-term (43 years) cooling trend across Antarctica since 1979.

US could quit WHO on Trump’s first day

RT | December 22, 2024

The transition team of US President-elect Donald Trump hopes to pull the country out of the World Health Organization (WHO) the first day of the new administration, thus cutting one of the agency’s major cash flows, the Financial Times (FT) has reported, citing health experts.

Members of Trump’s team told the experts that they intend to announce a withdrawal from the global health body on inauguration day, January 20, the FT wrote on Sunday. Some in the team reportedly want the US to stay in the WHO but push to reform it. However, another group, which hopes to cut ties, is reportedly winning the argument. … continue

Arkansas Looks to Hold Pharma Execs Criminally Liable for Vaccine Injuries

By Michael Nevradakis, Ph.D. | The Defender | December 20, 2024

Arkansas lawmakers are weighing legislation that could pierce the pharmaceutical industry’s federal liability shield for vaccine injuries by holding corporate executives criminally liable for “vaccine harms” if they concealed evidence of risks associated with a vaccine that subsequently seriously injured or killed the recipient.

Under Senate Bill 6, introduced by Republican State Sen. Bryan King, an executive officer of a pharmaceutical company that “knowingly hides, conceals, omits, or otherwise withholds evidence, documentation, or information that the vaccine has dangerous effects,” would be found guilty of a felony and face a prison sentence of one year to life.

The bill is pending before the Arkansas Senate. King also introduced Senate Bill 5, to hold Pharma executives criminally liable for “prescription drug harm.”

Previous versions of both bills unanimously passed last year in the Arkansas Senate but died in the Arkansas House. … continue

EFSA’s opinions on GMO-derived fake meat product are full of data gaps and errors

GM Watch | December 16, 2024

The European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA)’s favourable opinions on a GMO yeast-derived “fake meat” ingredient are full of data gaps and errors and put public health at risk, according to a new analysis by Claire Robinson of GMWatch and Prof Michael Antoniou.

EFSA’s food additives (FAF) and GMO Panels said they had no safety concerns about Impossible Foods’ application for EU market approval of its soy leghemoglobin product (LegH Prep), which is derived from a genetically modified version of the yeast K. phaffii. LegH Prep is intended to give the company’s meat substitute products, such as the Impossible Burger, a “bleeding” appearance and a meaty flavour.

However, neither K. phaffii – GM or not – or soy leghemoglobin have ever formed part of the human diet and therefore have no history of safe use. It’s now up to EU Member States and the Commission as to whether it is approved for human consumption in the bloc.

As part of EFSA’s public consultation on the product, which ends on 16 December, Claire Robinson of GMWatch and Prof Michael Antoniou have submitted comments on its panels’ opinions. They’re published here.

Robinson and Antoniou are calling upon EFSA to withdraw and revise their opinions on the grounds that they contain major gaps and errors that put public health at risk. … continue

Internal emails reveal TGA fails to grasp mRNA vaccine science

By Maryanne Demasi, PhD | December 19, 2024

A Freedom of Information (FOI) request has uncovered emails from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), revealing internal discussions about “DNA contamination” risks in the COVID-19 mRNA vaccines.

The disclosure relates to the TGA’s announcement in October, which tried to quash “misinformation” about the potential for residual DNA to integrate into the human genome.

For months the TGA worked to counter studies by independent scientists, including Canadian virologist David Speicher, who reported that plasmid DNA in Australian vaccine vials exceeded safety limits by up to 145 times.

The correspondence revealed that the TGA was woefully unprepared to handle the complexities of the science, even as it publicly downplayed the dangers.

In the emails, staffers discussed the risks of foreign DNA in the vaccines. “Foreign DNA can integrate into chromosomal DNA” admitted one staffer, who mentioned several ways that exogenous DNA can integrate into the host genome. […]

The FOI emails reveal uncertainty among staff about the complexities of mRNA technology, highlighting an agency still struggling to fully understand the science.

Rather than addressing knowledge gaps before provisionally approving the vaccines, the TGA is now scrambling to consult internal experts to counter narratives and uphold its public stance of “safe and effective.”

One staffer, focused on cooling public rhetoric wrote, “I’m primarily concerned with allaying fears in the public that this is actually something to worry about, when it isn’t.”

While it’s reasonable for public health bodies to avoid creating unnecessary panic, transparency about both known and unknown risks is crucial when uncertainty persists — something the TGA has failed to deliver.

As public awareness of this issue grows, so does the understanding that the TGA has not been transparent or thorough in investigating mRNA vaccine safety.

In its rush to reassure the public, the FOI emails reveal an unsettling truth.

The TGA overlooked critical safety aspects of the vaccines, leading many to conclude that its focus has been more on controlling its narrative than on prioritising the safety of the people it is meant to protect. – Read full article

IVERMECTIN ATTACKS continue

Confused about ivermectin? I don’t blame you, but it’s quite simple––just follow the money.

A Better Way with Dr Tess Lawrie | December 17, 2024

Do you get confused by the relentless ivermectin counter-narrative that raises doubts in your mind about whether ivermectin pills are, indeed, ‘good’ or ‘bad’ – a cheap, safe and established medicine OR a globalist tool to depopulate the planet?

To clarify, it has the potential to be both. Put simply:

  • GOOD: In a cheap, generic* 3mg or 12mg pill, the original formulation of ivermectin can be helpful for various infections, inflammation, and even cancer.
  • BAD: As novel, long-acting injections, ivermectin could most certainly be used as part of a concoction for an evil plan to depopulate the planet.

*Generic means that any licensed company can make ivermectin pills. It can be produced and sold cheaply. New, long-acting injections under development, however, are patented and can only be made and sold by the Big Pharma investor/inventor. Patented proprietary drugs are usually much more expensive.

This article addresses and counters the ever-weakening arguments against ivermectin. It then identifies who might benefit from discrediting ivermectin. … continue

The HPV Vaccine Disaster Was A Blueprint For COVID-19

Dissecting the despicable playbook for covering up vaccine injuries

A Midwestern Doctor | The Forgotten Side of Medicine | December 12, 2024

Story at Glance

  • Two decades ago, Merck introduced Vioxx, a profitable NSAID, despite knowing it could cause numerous heart attacks. After facing overwhelming lawsuits and ultimately withdrawing Vioxx, Merck quickly pushed Gardasil, an HPV vaccine, to market to recover losses.
  • Gardasil proved to be extremely dangerous, yet both Merck and the FDA ignored the alarming data and continued promoting it, even as it resulted in unprecedented injuries, including autoimmunity, POTS, infertility, and death. Notably, many of these issues mirror those associated with the COVID-19 vaccines.
  • This article examines the dangers of the HPV vaccine, the reasons behind its risks—including its tendency to cause rather than prevent cervical cancer—and the extensive negligence of the FDA and CDC. These lessons are crucial for understanding the events surrounding COVID-19.

Jewish settlers destroy agricultural property in southern al-Khalil

Palestinian Information Center – December 22, 2024

AL-KHALIL – A horde of extremist Jewish settlers wreaked havoc on Palestinian property in Umm al-Semsem area in ad-Dhahiriya town, south of al-Khalil in the occupied West Bank.

Samer Abu Sharkh from the area said on Sunday that settlers wreaked havoc on his property, including an agricultural room and its contents.

Settler violence against Palestinians is a daily issue in the West Bank. Instead of taking action to combat their crimes, the Israeli military and security authorities aid and abet settlers in harming Palestinians, destroying their property and seizing their lands.

Settlers carry out a variety of crimes against Palestinians under military protection, including physical assaults, stone throwing, threats and harassment, damaging of trees and crops, vandalism of cars and property, blocking of roads and even firing of live ammunition.

Israeli Soldiers Shoot One, Abduct Eight, Near Nablus

The head of the Burqa village council, Ziad Abu Omar, told the WAFA News Agency that occupation forces invaded the village at dawn, storming and searching several citizens’ homes.

Abu Omar added that soldiers broke down the doors to several homes and smashed the windows of two vehicles, before abducting eight young men.

Media sources said that Israeli forces shot the young man, Mahdi Haji, in the leg with live rounds, denied him medical treatment, and proceeded to abduct him. … Full article

At least 19 Palestinians killed by Israeli airstrikes in Gaza since dawn: Medics

Press TV – December 22, 2024

At least 19 Palestinians, including children, have been killed and a dozen others injured as a fresh round of Israeli airstrikes targeted several areas across the besieged Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian medical sources.

The sources reported that an attack on a vehicle on Jalaa Street in Gaza City left at least four people dead on Sunday. Several people also sustained injuries.

An Israeli air raid on the Jabalia refugee camp, north of Gaza, killed at least five people, including children, as well.

It was the latest deadly attack carried out by the Israeli army this morning in Gaza.

Additionally, a medical source at the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City was quoted as saying that eight bodies, including those of two children and two women, along with several injured individuals, were brought to the facility following an Israeli airstrike on the Musa bin Nusair School in the al-Daraj neighborhood in central Gaza City.

According to eyewitnesses, aerial assaults on the school sheltering displaced families caused fires and extensive damage to the building.

The northern Gaza Strip continued to witness intense bombardment and shelling throughout the night into Sunday, particularly in Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanoun , with strikes going on around Kamal Adwan Hospital.

In central Gaza, artillery shelling struck the western side of the New Camp in Nuseirat.

In the southern Gaza Strip, a Palestinian man and his wife were killed when an Israeli helicopter attacked their apartment in central Khan Younis.

Moreover, three Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on the eastern parts of Rafah. … Full article

Israeli evacuation orders for Lebanon may count as war crimes: Report

Al Mayadeen | December 22, 2024

… The report, titled “Forced Displacement Orders: Debunking the Myth of Humane Attacks,” saw ActionAid and Oxfam examine evacuation warnings issued between September 23 and October 31. The findings of the analysis found that the 136 notices could amount to a “forcible transfer” campaign and consequently a violation of International Humanitarian Law (IHL).

The aftermath of the evacuation notices was the displacement of millions of civilians and thousands of families into shelters or the streets, rendering them illegitimate and unsafe, and raising grave concerns for potential war crimes.

The report further found that the notices were impossible to comply with and triggered waves of mass displacement that failed to meet all IHL standards, which demand effective, clear, and specific warnings that give civilians sufficient time to safely leave, as well as a timeline for them to return home. … Full article

Israel threatens residents of south Syria as troops expand occupation

The Cradle | December 22, 2024

Residents of the town of Baath in the southern Syrian governorate of Quneitra – currently under occupation by Israel’s military – have been ordered by Israeli forces to surrender all weapons present in the town or face invasion.

Israeli troops ordered Baath City’s residents to give up all arms within two hours on 22 December, according to a report by Israel’s Maariv newspaper. […]

Israel’s recent expansion has seen invading troops seize precious water sources such as the Al-Wahda Dam on the Yarmouk River Basin. Syrian and Israeli sources, including Carmel News citing an Iranian source, reported earlier this week that Israel now controls 30 percent of Syria’s water supply and 40 percent of Jordan’s. … Read full article

Yemeni forces target USS Truman, down F-18, thwarting attack on Sanaa

Sputnik – 22.12.2024

Fighters of the Yemeni Ansar Allah (Houthi) group have repelled joint US-UK air forces attack, shooting down a US Navy F/A-18 fighter jet during their attack on USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the Red Sea, the group’s military spokesman, Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree said on Sunday.

“During the operation an F/A 18 jet was shot down attempting to repel the attack [on the US aircraft carrier],” Saree said on air of Almasirah TV channel.
Eight cruise missiles and 17 unmanned aerial vehicles were involved in the operation, the spokesman said.

He pointed out that the majority of fighter jets left Yemen’s air space and headed for the neutral waters of the Red Sea trying to repel the attack on the carrier. USS Harry S. Truman left its positions after the strikes, Saree said.

In early December, the Houthis attacked a destroyer and three army supply vessels of the United States with missiles and drones in the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea.

Earlier in the day, the Associated Press, citing CENTCOM, reported that a US Navy F/A-18 jet was downed by friendly fire over the Red Sea during an attack on Houthi targets. Both pilots ejected safely, with one sustaining minor injuries.

Geopolitical auto-asphyxiation: Here’s why Germany is heading for irreversible decline

Berlin is unable or unwilling to finally abandon a pernicious groupthink that subordinates its interests to Washington’s misguided political agenda

By Tarik Cyril Amar | RT | December 22, 2024

Oops, he’s done it again: Tech mogul, richest man in the world, and also now new bestie of American President-elect Donald Trump, Elon Musk has used his massive social media clout – as owner of X and a personal account with more than 200 million followers – to post about politics. And here we don’t mean his unhelpful recent intervention in how Americans – barely – keep their rickety government contraption from stuttering to a halt for lack of cash.

Nope, this is about Germany: With regard to Europe’s Sick Man on the Spree (there is another one on the Seine, of course), in his first post Musk waltzed in, guns blazing to support the right-wing AfD (Alternative for Germany) party in the run-up to the snap elections on February 23.

Only the AfD, he pronounced with typical modesty, can “save Germany.” In a second post, a few days later, Musk reacted to a murderous attack on a German Christmas market in the city of Magdeburg. This time, he called Germany’s lame-duck Chancellor Olaf Scholz “an incompetent fool” who should resign forthwith.

Some Germans are aghast. How dare Musk, an American, intervene in our elections? Deeply unpopular German minister of health Karl Lauterbach, for instance, went almost comically Victorian with his performance of righteous ire for public display, calling Musk’s statements “undignified and highly problematic.” Shocking, shocking indeed!

Interestingly enough, most of the same Germans still have no problem with Joe Biden, also an American, having helped Ukraine blow up their vital energy infrastructure and then mightily promoting the de-industrialization of Germany and the EU as a whole by subsidizing companies which move to produce in the US. Others think it’s totally normal that German politicians, such as Michael Roth – head of the German parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, no less – massively interfere in the politics of, say, Georgia, not only by messing with its elections but also trying to literally instigate a coup. Judge not, lest ye be judged… continue

Pro-Western party funded anti-NATO candidate in EU state – media

RT | December 22, 2024

Allegations that Russia was behind a Romanian social media campaign that helped independent presidential candidate Calin Georgescu win a first round vote, and which contributed to the country’s constitutional court canceling the entire election, are false, an investigation has found.

Georgescu’s campaign was not funded by Russia but in fact by the pro-Western National Liberal Party (PNL), the media outlet Snoop has reported, citing the probe’s findings.

A critic of NATO and the EU and a staunch opponent of sending aid to Ukraine, Georgescu topped the first-round vote in Romania with 22.94%, beating other liberal leftist and democrat candidates.

Romania’s Constitutional Court promptly annulled the election ahead of the second-round vote, citing intelligence documents alleging ‘irregularities’ in Georgescu’s performance.

The documents claimed Georgescu’s candidacy was improperly promoted online, including on TikTok, by paid influencers and extremist right-wing groups, and that his campaign may have benefited from Russian interference – an allegation that Moscow has denied as “absolutely groundless.”

According to Snoop, Romania’s tax authorities analyzed financial flows and discovered that the campaign that promoted Georgescu on TikTok was in fact paid for by the PNL and run by Kensington Communication, a company which provides political marketing services, as well as online campaigns.

The briefs delivered to influencers were aimed at promoting “a responsible attitude and a mature choice” among Romanians that would help the country continue its “democratic path,” wrote Snoop. … continue

Western Aid Covers Nearly 90% of Ukraine’s Spending in 2022-2024 – Analysis

By Oleg Burunov – Sputnik – 22.12.2024

Russia has repeatedly warned that the US and its Western sponsors’ assistance to the Kiev regime will only prolong the Ukraine conflict.

Western financing of Ukraine reached a whopping $238.5 billion from February 2022 to the beginning of December 2024, which approximately corresponds to 87% of the country’s budget expenses, Sputnik’s research based on information from the Ukrainian Finance Ministry, the University of Kiel, and open data has shown.

The expenses of the Ukrainian budget in 2022-2023 amounted to $193.3 billion, while in 2024 the figure is expected to stand at $81.3 billion. It means that over the past three years, the expenses have increased to $274.6 billion, according to the analyzed data. … continue

Zelensky’s testing our patience – Slovak MEP

RT | December 21, 2024

Vladimir Zelensky has “gone too far” in its dispute with Slovakia over natural gas, let alone turning Ukraine into a “zombie state” that’s entirely dependent on the West, Slovakian MEP Milan Uhrik has told RT.

Bratislava and Kiev have ended up in a bitter row over supplies of Russian natural gas across Ukraine. The country has refused to extend its gas-transit deal with Russia, on which Slovakia depends for energy supply, and which is set to expire at the end of the year.

While the country, which borders western Ukraine, has enough gas in storage to make it through the winter, the impending end of transit likely spells trouble for Bratislava in the near future, Uhrik is suggesting.

“We have a valid contract with Gazprom which we want to fulfill but Zelensky is preventing us from doing so simply because he wants to harm our economy and simply because he wants more, I don’t know, finance or more weapons from our country, and this is what we do not agree with,” the MEP said. … continue

Another Climate Sensitivity Study Finds Doubling CO2 Leads To 0.5°C Warming At Most

By Kenneth Richard | No Tricks Zone | December 20, 2024

The evidence that rising CO2 concentrations lead to inconsequential warming keeps piling up.

In a new study, seven Viennese researchers provide more evidence the CO2 absorption band is already saturated at today’s concentrations (over 400 ppm). Rising CO2 levels thus cannot drive significant global warming. … continue

Rate Inflation in New England (perils of political electricity)

By Allen Brooks | Master Resource | December 10, 2024

“Electricity bills in New England are poised to experience a sharp increase driven by the clean energy mandates in five of the six states, which require duplicative, overbuilt renewable energy.”

Connecticut ratepayers suffered sticker shock this summer when they opened their July electric bills. While their energy consumption was relatively flat, the “public benefits” component doubled for some and tripled for others. The culprit was not hard to find given a legislative requirement for utilities to itemize the cost components of monthly bills.

“Public benefits” cover the cost of subsidies the state provides for low-income electricity customers and energy-efficiency programs. They also include solar, electric vehicle, and other renewable energy incentives.

The wide array of renewable energy subsidies and aid to low-income residents who cannot afford high-cost electricity, growing everywhere, is an increasing cost burden for power users in the Northeast. … continue

Denmark offers largest offshore wind area for auction, but no one bids anything

“The green transition in Denmark has stalled right now”

By Jo Nova | December 11, 2024

Denmark was the posterchild for the wind industry. It has the largest share of wind power in its national grid, and is home to the industry giants, Vestas and Orstead — two of the world’s largest wind-manufacturers . Denmark is planning a large expansion in wind energy (or it was). But when the government offered up three areas of the North Sea that were described as “among the best in the world”, the deadline came and went last Thursday and not a single bid was received.

Wind energy is free and no one wants it […]

The European Union want to pave the oceans with wind turbines. At the end of last year they had 20GW of offshore wind, but they want that to grow to 60GW in just the next five years, and reach 300 GW by 2050.

If that’s going to happen, it will take monster subsidies to conquer the sea of apathy. – Read full article

BBC omits experts’ big pharma ties in ‘debunking’ Britain’s #1 podcaster Steven Bartlett for “health misinformation”

Another state-sponsored “fact-checker” falls afoul of fact-checking…

JJ Starky | December 18, 2024

The state-funded British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has become known for its journalistic malpractice in recent years and last week was no exception.

On December 13th, BBC ‘Global Disinformation’ journalist Jacqui Wakefield published a libellous report on entrepreneur Steven Bartlett’s viral podcast, The Diary of a CEO, alleging that it promoted “harmful health misinformation.”

Wakefield and her team analysed 23 health-related episodes, identifying dozens of claims they say “go against extensive scientific evidence.”

The episodes in question included interviews with figures such as Dr Aseem Malhotra, an outspoken critic of the Covid vaccines, and Dr Thomas Seyfried, a well-known advocate of the low-carb ketogenic diet.

To challenge these claims, Wakefield referenced four experts: Dr David Grimes, Professor Heidi Larson, Dr Partha Kar, and Dr Liz O’Riordan, who disputed the views shared by Bartlett’s guests.

Wakefield then highlighted Bartlett’s failure to disclose his investments in certain health companies he promoted.

She noted that two Facebook adverts featuring Bartlett had recently been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). Both adverts promoted products by Huel and Zoe, companies in which Bartlett is an investor.

Curious if Wakefield’s investigation had been conducted objectively, I dug into the backgrounds of the experts cited and found some interesting conflicts.

Let’s Retire Overused Words. First, ‘Misinformation’

By Dr. Pierre Kory & Mary Beth Pfeiffer | Real Clear Health | December 16, 2024

In a seismic political shift, Republicans have laid claim to an issue that Democrats left in the gutter—the declining health of Americans. True, it took a Democrat with a famous name to ask why so many people are chronically illdisabled and dying younger than in 47 other countries. But the message resonated with the GOP.

We have a proposal in this unfolding milieu. Let’s have a serious, nuanced discussion. Let’s retire labels that have been weaponized against Robert F. Kennedy Jr., nominated for Health and Human Services Secretary, and many people like him.

Start with discarding threadbare words like “conspiracy theory,” “anti-vax,” and the ever-changing “misinformation.”

These linguistic sleights of hand have been deployed—by government, media and vested interests—to dismiss policy critics and thwart debate. If post-election developments tell us anything, it is that such scorn may no longer work for a population skeptical of government overreach. … continue

Sen. Eric Schmitt Urges Exclusion of State Department’s Global Engagement Center from Government Funding

By Didi Rankovic | Reclaim The Net | December 21, 2024

Republican Senator Eric Schmitt has addressed the Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat, asking for the State Department’s Global Engagement Center (GEC) to be cut off from temporary government funding that’s currently negotiated in Congress.

Schmitt – who was, as Missouri attorney-general, behind the Missouri v. Biden free speech lawsuit (that became Murthy v. Missouri) said in a post on X that GEC “must be excluded from any subsequent piece of legislation for the remainder of the 118th Congress.”

The senator added that Americans “deserve to know their First Amendment rights are being protected.”

The letter to Schumer reveals that the temporary funding measure, known as “continuing resolution (CR)” among its original 1,500 pages provides for GEC as well.

‘Forced labor’ narrative on Xinjiang chili pepper ‘one lie after another’: FM

Global Times | December 20, 2024

Spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lin Jian on Friday slammed Western media saying that chili pepper products sold in UK and US supermarkets contain ingredients from Xinjiang are probably produced using “forced labor” by citing a report by an anti-China academic Adrian Zenz, noting that the so-called report mentioned by certain media outlets is deeply flawed, and it pretentiously quotes some vague accounts by so-called anonymous witnesses, but does not provide any factual basis, and even lacks the most basic field investigation.

Lin said that, the fact is, the farming process of chili peppers in Xinjiang has largely been mechanized already in some major production areas, 100 percent of the chili peppers are now harvested by machines. “Is the report suggesting that there is ‘forced machine labor?’” he asked.

Earlier this week, an international symposium on employment and social security was held in Urumqi, said Lin, noting that more than 200 participants from over 40 countries, regions and international organizations attended the event, and many said the Xinjiang they saw is very much different from the false propaganda they had seen from sources outside China.

“They condemned the ‘forced labor’ narrative, calling it a lie that deprives people in Xinjiang of their right to work, subsistence and development,” Lin said. … Full article

Chinese Military Calls US Biggest Threat to Global Security After Alarmist Pentagon Report

Sputnik – 21.12.2024

BEIJING – The Chinese Defense Ministry on Saturday denounced the Pentagon’s recent report on China’s rapid military development, saying that the United States itself had an increasingly confrontational military strategy that was turning it into the biggest threat to global security.

“The evidence shows that the US military strategy is becoming increasingly confrontational, offensive and adventurous. The US, addicted to war, has become the biggest destroyer of the international order and the biggest threat to global security,” Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang said on WeChat.

Zhang accused the US of taking advantage of its military superiority to “preserve its unipolar hegemony, carry out forced power changes and provoke ‘color revolutions.’”

The Chinese defense spokesman pointed to Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan as examples of how US military interventions have led to humanitarian disasters and hundreds of thousands of deaths.

The US Department of Defense released on December 18 the congressionally mandated report, which alleged that China presented “a significant, persistent cyber-enabled espionage and attack threat.” It claimed that China’s stockpile of operational nuclear warheads surpassed 600 as of mid-2024 and was projected to top 1,000 by 2030. China is believed to be rapidly expanding its nuclear forces amid an intensifying strategic competition with the United States. At the same time, the Pentagon said it remained committed to maintaining open lines of communication with China to ensure that competition does not veer into conflict.

French troops begin departure from Chad

Press TV – December 21, 2024

A contingent of 120 French soldiers has left Chad following the country’s decision to end its defense cooperation pact with Paris.

French troops were seen boarding their plane on Friday and departing from N’Djamena airport.

The withdrawal process formally began earlier this month with the departure of two French Mirage warplanes.

France still has about 1000 troops stationed in Chad, with the full drawdown expected to take several weeks.

The terms and conditions of the complete withdrawal, including whether any French troops will remain in Chad, are yet to be finalized between the two countries.

Chad announced on November 28 its decision to end a defense accord with Paris mainly dating from independence in 1960. … continue

Palestinian child killed by Israeli landmine in West Bank

Palestinian Information Center – December 21, 2024

WEST BANK – A Palestinian child was killed on Saturday morning when a landmine left behind by the Israeli occupation army exploded in al-Rashayda area, east of Bethlehem in the West Bank.

The Palestinian health ministry said that seven-year-old Mohamed Rashayda was martyred when he stepped on a landmine left by the Israeli army in al-Rashayda area.

Unexploded ordnance left behind by the Israeli army is particularly concentrated in the southern West Bank areas and the northern Jordan Valley, where its military exercises take place.

DoD claims to have ‘just recently learned’ of US doubling Syria forces

RT | December 21, 2024

The US has revealed that it has more than doubled its military presence in Syria, with a Pentagon spokesman saying that he “just recently learned” there were in fact roughly 2,000 American forces deployed in the country, rather than 900 troops as previously reported.

For years, the Pentagon had maintained that “about 900” US troops were stationed in the country, and officials continued to repeat this figure even after the overthrow of Syrian President Bashar Assad on December 8.

However, during a press conference on Thursday, Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said that “we recently learned that those numbers [are] higher.”

“Given the difference in what we’ve been briefing and what the actual number is, I just felt that it was important to get you that information,” Ryder said, citing diplomatic and operational security sensitivities as part of the reason for the delay in disclosure.

The Pentagon spokesman explained that the additional troops had been in Syria “at a minimum, months” on a rotational basis, which has been “going on for a while.” … Full article

The fall of Syria: A NATO, Zionist and Gulf state operation

The day after the ceasefire with Hezbollah was announced on 26 November the so-called Syrian rebels launched their offensive.

But this was not just an isolated coincidence. Not only were fighters attacking Syria from the North, but two other fronts were opened at the same time showing clear co-ordination.

From the North East the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (or SDF) attacked.

The West’s Romance With Elections Is Dead… the Rules-Based Order Killed It

By Eve Ottenberg | CounterPunch | December 20, 2024

It’s been a bad few months for democracy. Election results offensive to the European Union were annulled in Romania; an attempted coup occurred in Georgia over elections that didn’t go the way the west wanted; the French government, widely hated, teetered over the abyss as president Emmanual Macron tried to ignore the last election; on December 16, Washington’s pet German government fell; lots of funny-business happened in the Moldovan referendum and election, amid widespread disenfranchisement of Moldovan voters living in Russia; elections were long ago cancelled in dictatorial Ukraine; and South Korea hosted an attempted coup. In short, western democracies’ storied enchantment with elections is over. As western populations grow sick and tired of their political class and vote against it, what are elites to do? Annul, cancel, overturn and ignore the elections, that’s what. The problem, for the west, is the voters. … continue

EU state’s PM accuses Zelensky of trying to bribe him

RT | December 21, 2024

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has accused Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky of attempting to bribe him €500 million to commit Bratislava to supporting Kiev’s bid to join NATO.

Fico made the revelation at a press conference in Brussels on Thursday, shortly after his behind-closed-doors meeting with Zelensky on the sidelines of an EU leader’s summit.

The prime minister told journalists that Bratislava could consider “reciprocal measures” after Ukraine refused to extend its gas transit deal with Russia, which is set to expire at the end of the year.

Ukraine cited the ongoing conflict as its reason, raising concerns in Slovakia, which relies on Russian gas supplies transiting through Ukraine. Fico emphasized the need for alternative solutions to avoid a gas crisis.

He recalled that during their talks, the Ukrainian leader declined to allow the transit of fuel, instead offering “absurd” proposals to settle the gas issue.

Fico claimed that, among other things, Zelensky “asked me if I would vote for NATO membership [of Ukraine] if he gave me €500 million from Russian assets” frozen in the West after the outbreak of the conflict between Moscow and Kiev.

The Slovak PM said that he told the Ukrainian leader straight away that he would “never” agree to such an offer.

“You know my opinion on Ukraine’s membership in NATO, and it is strange that he asked me such a question because he knows very well that Ukraine’s invitation to NATO is completely unrealistic,” he stressed. … Full article

Ukrainian drones strike residential buildings deep inside Russia – officials

RT | December 21, 2024

Up to three kamikaze drones have struck a number of residential high-rises in the Russian city of Kazan, local officials reported on Saturday morning. Several news outlets have published what appear to be video clips shot by eyewitnesses, which depict the moment of the attack and its aftermath.

Earlier on Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry said on its own Telegram channel that its air defenses had shot down one “Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle over the Republic of Tatarstan,” where Kazan is the capital. The statement was later cited by the city administration.

In a separate message later in the day, military officials reported that the “Kiev regime” had deployed three waves of fixed-wing drones, targeting Kazan’s civilian infrastructure. According to the ministry, Russian air defenses shot down three of the incoming UAVs, and that three more were downed with the help of electronic warfare systems.

Since the start of Russia’s special military operation in February 2022, Kiev’s drones have on multiple occasions been intercepted over Moscow and various regions of the country. Only some of these UAVs have reached their targets.

Most such cases have happened in relative proximity to the border between the two countries. Kazan, however, is situated some 1,379 kilometers (857 miles) away from Ukraine. … Full article w/video
