Offshore report that TotalEnergies have paused development of the 3 GW Attentive Energy wind farm it planned to build off the coast of New York and New Jersey.
This follows the election of Trump.
It looks like being the first of many, as Biden’s Green New Deal unravels, with its promise of massive subsidies for renewables.

The story link says: ‘CEO Patrick Pouyanne indicates that the Attentive Energy project could be revived in four years.’
Sit back and wait for Trump to leave the stage.
I suspect his definition of ‘environmentally friendly’ and mine are radically different. His definition appears to be TotalEnergies friendly. God is on his side.
He meant ‘subsidy friendly’ as thankfully for us shareholders he knows it is not economic without it.
Trump to be followed by Vance or DeSantis. So, Mr Pouyanne, prepare to wait 12 years.
The whales may rejoice at this – if there is to be no pile-driving . . .

Yes , it will be a lot better for marine creatures , birds , and all of the people who have to pay for the VERY EXPENSIVE winds farms , but the media and green loonies will still ignore all of the facts and demand this sort of insanity goes on .https://nypost.com/2023/08/26/new-documentary-proves-that-offshore-windfarms-kill-whales/
Pesky whales – holding back ‘progress’ by dying on beaches.
Can’t the greens pass a law that requires all whales to die at sea … out of sight out of mind ??
But Mr. Miliband will, just after Christmas, introduce a Bill to Abolish Night, so his Slaver panels can get up to 25% efficiency. Perhaps.
Whales dying, and staying at sea – pshaw! Easy.

But, but, wind is so cheap they can just build it without a subsidy and undercut the non wind providers. Can’t they??
Total bid $795m for the lease for 85,000 acres 42 miles off the coast. The lease requires payment of about 2% of revenues during commercial operation limited to 33 years, and allows 6 years to reach commercial operation. That’s a chunk of change tied up for no good purpose, potentially for a dozen years or more. I suspect lawyers will be sniffing the potential of identifying get-out clauses.
