Crossbeak and egg laying.

I really hesitate posting sometimes because I feel like people are judgmental and then my feelings just end up getting hurt. I really care so much about my chickens and do everything I can to make sure they are happy and healthy. I’m always researching and trying to do what’s best but there is so much conflicting information.
Dorothy (our cross beak) is such a big part of our family and I only want what’s best for her.
I've seen a few be that way on here, but honestly, I came from years of Facebook prior to finding BYC a few years ago. What a difference! On BYC, I think I have three people on ignore. On Facebook, it's probably 300 (blocked).

If you see someone being mean, report it. If they're being ignorant or judgemental, I ignore them so I don't have to see anymore of it. Everyone has a right to their opinion, and by posting, as you know, you'll get a lot of those. Just read the sincerely helpful folks and ignore the rest.

One of the problems with a cross beak - is that often times, that is not the only genetic fault they have. You said she is not laying and she might not. She might have internal issues that are also not aligned.

Keep her they best you can, but I would not expect eggs.
I was thinking that as well. Either way she will live a happy life here with us she’s definitely our most spoiled chicken.

@Kiki
Measuring as best as I can it looks to be about 1-1 1/2 cups per day. The reason I can’t be 100% sure is because she spills some of it, ect.

A normal full grown hen should eat about 3/4 cup worth of crumbled/pelleted feed per day.

I would say she’s getting AT LEAST that much. I was told they won’t overeat? So even if she’s offered more she shouldn’t overeat right?
Not true...a chicken can over eat.

I think something is off if you say she could be eating 2 cups worth of feed a day.

Have you tried measuring the feed before you give it to her and feeding only her by herself-like in a cage by herself?

I watched mine eat, and it runs between the dry and the mash. I think what it's doing is gets its face so full of mash as it's beak catches so much of it, then goes to the dry to clean it off lol. It does spill a lot of the mash too, but not so much the dry. It's in a pen with a couple of its siblings and a few others around their age.

Okay good to know. I have fed her by herself in the past but lately I’ve been making one bowl of mash and all of the chickens eat it and then I make her her own and she eats it by herself. Today by herself she ate around 1/2 a cup plus what she ate with the others.
The 2 cups was a GUESS on my part based on what I used to scoop the food but today I used a measuring cup.
I was worried about her not getting enough but apparently I’m over feeding
