Is it time for some other entity to takeover? The mobile app is not any better than the online site. This entire website is nearly unusable.

Why? Who is in charge of it?
Seems like a wasted opportunity, so many more people would use it if it were not completely maddening to try.

This is like surfing the web in ‘98 or something, but I’m on 5G not 56k…

Seriously, they could make way more money if they just modernized and fixed how buggy and un-enduringly slow the website and mobile app are. I’m on a 2023 iPhone… this should not be like this.

I think these problems are specific to you the mobile app is definitely worse because it’s not updated as much but the website is definitely not broken and they are adding updates all the time everything is quite smooth and fast for me I think it’s something to do with your cell data or internet

I've owned BYC for a gazillion years, and I'm here pretty much every day (usually behind the scenes keeping thing running smoothly).

Sorry to hear you've been having issues with the site. We have literally millions of visitors every month, and are not getting reports like the one you mentioned.
Seems like a wasted opportunity, so many more people would use it if it were not completely maddening to try.

Well, our main priority isn't money, but that's nice of you to be thinking for our financial stability! In fact, you'll find that (especially once logged-in) we are pretty conservative with blasting our members with ads, popups, etc. We could make a lot more money, but, again, our focus is the user's experience.

Yup, I 100% agree. The mobile app is junk... and honestly, we only have it because we feel it's a necessary evil to be in the "app stores". We focus our efforts on the mobile browser, and feedback from TONS of people is that it works fine on the vast majority of devices. This is why we encourage everyone to use BYC on their favorite browser.


Hopefully the above answers most of your questions. Again, sorry you're having issues with the site. As others have mentioned above (and in other threads) the site performs quite well for most people. We also have extensive tools and processes for monitoring the site's performance, and all systems look great. In fact, Google agrees with the functionality, performance, and content of the site... which is why our ranking in the SERPS is so high!

Again, I'm sorry that your experience on BYC hasn't been stellar. That said, based on everything I can see from the back-end, a lot of people are having a fantastic experience and no problems.

I'd suggest browsing BYC from a different device, browser, etc., to see if the issues might be with you specifically.

Safari certainly doesn’t work better than the app, are iOS users just out of luck for mobile? Not to jazzed about the idea I have to download a separate browser just for this site, which I like and want to use! Been leaving and coming back for years now hoping it’s better.

Can you please take some ad revenue and invest in fixing the app, making browser work for Safari? Please?

Different device?! I breed geese and fowl for a living… you think I own nice things?!? I just have my iPhone no computer.
Lots of folks in that position, you’d get more traffic if things got fixed! More traffic = more ad revenue

Can't you just go on your smart phone and "google" backyardchickens.com and get the site? Or whatever browser you use. I use duck duck go and have no issues
