Amen Makoto (亜面 真琴, Amen Makoto; "Makoto Amen") is Kakerou Referee #7 and one of the Referees that participated in the Ban match on Protoporos Island.
Appearance []
Amen has slicked-back black hair that is shaved in a lined style. She is also able to grow a mustache which she has in an English style.
Personality[]
Amen is very calm and passionate about her Referee duties. According to Ikon Jyuuzou, she has a "hypocritical way of talking".[2] Based on her nightmare, she also feels lonely due to her status as the youngest Referee.[3]
History[]
Amen was kidnapped when she was 8 years old. The experience traumatized her and led her to later kill her kidnapper, with this event garnering Kakerou's interest in her.[4] She eventually joined Kakerou by defeating a Referee at 17 years old.[3]
Plot[]
Protoporos Arc[]
Amen was one of the first Referees to appear on the island and was first seen putting up the Ban posters. When Ikon arrived, she told him to put on a vest that was eventually revealed to belong to another player.
She was seen fully as she watched over the events at the Protoporos colosseum.[5]
Dominating the Outlaws[]
Amen appeared at the deadlock between Kyara and Gyeongho Jonglyo, confirming the latter's death.[6] She was also seemingly shocked when she witnessed Bandai Kaoru's defeat against Mitaka Hana.[7]
Protoporos Nightmare[]
When Daiba sent electric shocks to the Referees' vests, Amen was the only one unaffected, as she forgot to put it on. She then took over Nanpou's place in following Vincent Lalo after the latter Referee was incapacitated. Lalo lead her back to the colosseum where she was attacked by Bai Long. While fighting Bai Long she had a nightmare where she was chained and assaulted by "Jones the Neck Cutter" and "Soda Maker". She came to her senses after being woken up by Ikon, who was also following Vincent in secret. Ikon protected her and told her to continue following Lalo while he dealt with Bai Long.
Lalo went to the outlaws' hideout and eventually made a deal with Richard Arata, saying that he would stop spreading information about Huger in exchange for the ability to leave the island. This move was actually a trick for both Arata and Amen. Arata and the outlaws took Lalo to the boats but, since leaving the island was against the rules, Amen defeated all of the outlaws in order to prevent Vincent from leaving.
Heavily injured already, she continued to face threats from the mob controlled by Torpe, until she was rescued by Douji Haruaki.
Air Poker Epilogues[]
Amen is seen taking care of Ikon and Nanpou in the submarine. During Air Poker, Ikon and Amen bet on who would win. Amen lost the bet because she bet on Lalo.
Surpassing the Leader Arc[]
Amen hears that the referees are going to play Collecting the Handkerchiefs to see who will preside over Surpassing the Leader. She relays this information to the bed-ridden Nanpou.
