“ | I'll kill you! Pathetic loser mutt!
— Kyara to Kaji Takaomi

Kyara (伽羅, Kyara; "Kyara") was one of Madarame Baku's allies and a former Referee #0 of Kakerou.
Appearance[]
Kyara was an intimidating-looking individual, with a notably muscular frame, a mop of wild black hair and a generally menacing facial expression. He has chemical burn scarring around his left eye from chemicals being accidentally splashed on him during one of Usogui's Kakerou games.[1]
Personality[]
Kyara was always surrounded with a ferociously overwhelming aura, and his appearance itself initiated fear in others. However, he had a deceptively caring side towards people he trusted and/or valued. Kyara lived his life by doing whatever he wanted and rarely let himself be willingly restrained by anyone else.
Kyara was driven by his intense lust for battle and his attraction to pure strength. Upon being asked what he thought was a perfect Referee, he replied that the strong will attract each other and if he was the peak of violence (Referee #0) then he and the peak of gambling would attract each other.[2]
History[]
Kyara grew up in the slums of Hong Kong. At some point he met Mitaka Hana (Ying). Ying disapproved of his lifestyle and tried to teach him how to live as a "human."
He thwarted off the people who targeted his "friend." He beat so many people he and his "friend" eventually became wanted by the Triad.
Nowa Mitoshi took interest in Kyara during a visit to Hong Kong. He brought him back with him and gave him the name "Kyara."
Kyara refereed the Madarame Baku's first Kakerou match. Baku won by taking advantage of Kyara's nature. Baku tells Kyara to remember him. Since Kyara was the first referee Baku met, he becomes Baku's exclusive referee once he gains a Kakerou membership.
Kyara left Kakerou after Baku lost Surpassing the Leader, making him the first referee to voluntarily leave the organization.
Before leaving, he visited Yakou Hikoichi's butler cafe to notify him of his decision to leave. Yakou warned Kyara that it is impossible to leave the organization alive. Kyara scoffed at Yakou's comment.[3]
Plot[]
Terrorist of the Abandoned Mine Arc[]
Kyara appeared as a bodyguard for Karl Belmont. He fought both Leo and Marco to keep them away from Karl's missile launcher during the Hangman Game.
Labyrinth of the Minotaur Arc[]
0 Yen Gamble Arc[]
Madarame Baku requests Kyara to tail Kaji Takomi on his way to the "0 Yen Gamble."
He throws his motorcycle at Billy Craig.
Bull's Womb Arc[]
Kyara and Kaji gamble to see who can make the best coffee. Kaji cheats by putting something in Kyara's coffee, causing him to lose. As part of the bet, Kyara has to do whatever Kaji says.
Kyara finds the Hayama's manor and offers to kill all of Kaji's enemies. Kaji refuses the offer, which makes Kyara mad. Kyara acts like he does not care about the injured Karl Belmont, while secretly taking him to safety.
After the game, Kyara kills Nameribone Tanemi. Nameribone had a contract with Gyeongho Jonglyo, a "bodyguard" who kills people who kill his clients. Kyara becomes Jonglyo's target and the two begin a cat and mouse chase.
Protoporos Arc[]
Kyara, currently still running from Jonglyo, is chosen to be one of Baku's allies during the Ban. He is later picked up and taken to the island by Mitaka Hana. Mitaka is also his personal referee for the match. His handle-name is "Cat" (キャット/Kyatto).
Untouchable Line[]
Kyara appears in the second round of Untouchable Line, as an untouchable. He fights and beats Vincent Lalo's ally, Robert K. The Developers send the Single-task Specialist, Veronica, to kill Kyara. Kyara gets wounded in the neck, but eventually defeats him. He is about to kill Veronica when he hears Kaji call his name. This causes Kyara to spare Veronica.
Duel for the Antidote[]
Kyara is sent to dominate all the outlaws, as part of Baku's strategy to become Kaiser. He meets Richard Arata, the leader of the Concealers. Arata tells him that Jonglyo had already been sent to do the same thing and so the two must fight for the right to lead the outlaws. Jonglyo's referee, Bandai Kaoru, proposes the Duel for the Antidote game. In the game, Kyara and Jonglyo both have to drink a deadly poison and fight over the one antidote within a five-minute time limit.
Kyara kills Jonglyo, successfully allowing him to retrieve the antidote and swallow it, which allows him to win the bet. Gravely wounded, he then goes to rest up against a tree. He sees fireworks and past versions of himself before dying from his wounds.
Abilities[]
Mental Abilities[]
Physical Abilities[]
Kyara was easily one of the most powerful hand-to-hand combatants in the series, able to dominate most opponents he crossed fists with. Since his initial appearance, Kyara remained undefeated in combat until his death, with even Madarame Baku regarding him as "a man who keeps winning".[4]
