Yakou Hikoichi (夜行 妃古壱, Yakō Hikoichi; "Hikoichi Yakou") is Referee #0 of Kakerou; he is regarded as being the "perfect Referee". He is currently Madarame Baku's exclusive Referee and was formerly the #2 referee.
Appearance[]
Hikoichi is an older gentleman with grey hair, a well-kept mustache, with his most distinguishing feature being his eyebrows which curl at the outer sides. As expected of a twin brother, he appears almost identical to Jouichi; they have differing hairstyles and Jouichi has a scar that runs diagonally across his face (from above his right eye all the way down to the side of his left cheek).
After the ranking battle with Kiruma Tatsuki, Yakou's hand becomes greatly damaged and is later covered in stitches.
Personality[]
Like a gentleman, he uses honorifics and is polite to anyone. However, he shows his savage side to satisfy his curiosity or during battles.

Yakou originally challenges Kiruma Tatsuki to a ranking battle. However, Tatsuki gives up his position as the #0 referee to Yakou only to challenge Yakou to a ranking battle afterwards. Tatsuki ultimately fails to kill Yakou, meaning he loses the ranking battle. The rules of the ranking battle states that if the challenging referee fails to collect the defender's life, the challenger's life will be forfeited. Though, Tatsuki suffers fatal injuries and dies anyways. Yakou suffers major injuries to his hand.

After winning the Collecting the Handkerchiefs game, Yakou is able to preside over the Surpassing the Leader match. He walks to the top of the Obelisk with Baku and Souichi. There he encounters Kaji and Oofuna Gakuhito. He asks them if they have always been together, to which the two reply that they have not. He then tells them to go away as only the referee, Yakou himself, is allowed to observe the match.

- Yakou owns a "butler cafe" named Hyakki Yako,[1] where he serves his [in]famous coffee.
- Along with Nowa Mitoshi and his twin brother Yakou Jouichi, he is one of the oldest Referees in Kakerou.[citation needed]
- Other than presiding over games as a Referee, he is also an expert in collecting debts, and is also nicknamed "Debt Collector".
- In the volume 9 side story, Yakou said he would take on the name "Georgi Georgiev" when he planned to move to Russia.
