Vintage Marketplace, Hungry Caterpillar Birthday and Easter Freebies!!

Hello Friends!

Well here I am, trying to get in a blog post before the end of March.

And it has been a busy March!
My adorable little grandson turned one,
and I had lots of fun creating for his
Very Hungry Caterpillar birthday party!
I made this little accordian photo holder with a picture
for each of his first twelve months:

This is just the first six months showing.

No, I didn't make the cake, but isn't it so cute?!

I did make this welcome wreath for the front door:
My daughter and the birthday boy:

Here he is vigorously removing the birthday crown that I had made him,
made of felt:
I knew when I made it that it wouldn't last long, lol!

And a little banner I made,
using half of a honeycomb ball for the caterpillar head:

One year already, and you can see he is a little boy,
not a baby anymore...
But so so much fun!!

My friend Pam is expecting a new grandson this month,
so I made a scrappy little photo book for her,
all she need do is add pictures:

The cover:

And a few favorite layouts:

Made from those cute little We R Memories 4x4 books,
I just love those!!

This is a little bunny favor I made for our Paper Soiree gathering this month:

Made from a painted peat pot, he's designed for the rear view,
see his cute little bunny tail, made from fluffy felt?

Sigh...Vintage Marketplace was fantastic this spring:

Aren't these so funny?
Farm animals made from vegetables!!

I was enchanted by these umbrellas, cups and coffeepots hanging in the trees:

It was a lovely morning,
we were glad we got there early
as it got much hotter later in the day.

Here are some freebies for you,
thanks for visiting and sticking with me through this looong post :)

Baby! Vintage Marketplace! Altered Peat Pots!

Hello Friends!

Life has been very exciting around here!
The much awaited, anticipated Baby Colton is here!
Not without some drama and scares,
but Baby and Mama are now doing great!
They live about 1 1/2 hrs. from me,
so I have been going up about twice a week
to feed the parents, tidy up and revel in my new grandson!
Boys are new territory for me,
having had two girly girls,
but my heart is so full when I'm with him:

I know!!
He is a such a good baby as well!
Loving the whole Grandmother thing.

The fabulous Vintage Marketplace in Southern California
was held the first weekend in March.
I love it, it's so inspiring, a great shopping opportunity,
and a chance to catch up with some favorite vendors.
Here's a brief tour:

A closer look at the lovely ladies:

Fairy garden magic:

And of course it was a lovely day.
Looking forward to the June show!

I have been involved in a number of swaps lately, as well!
Here is an altered peat pot I made for my Paper Soiree group:

Covered the pot in a little French text papers, a little lace and a little burlap.
The bird is a wood shape which I covered in text,
on a wood birdcage, which was stamped in brown ink with a text stamp.
I was not able to attend the meeting, but I was delighted to receive
this adorable peat pot created by Michelle:

I love the fabric wrapped wire, and the twig with the birdie on it,
thanks so much Michelle!
I have another peat pot to share,
but I want to wait til my partner receives it,
plus more swap fun to share with you,
so please check back soon :)

Hope Spring is making its way to you,
especially to those of you who have suffered a harsh winter!

Altered Frame, Altered Matchbox Chest of Drawers

Hello Friends!

I have a couple of projects I made for swap partners in
my Marie Antoinette Mail Art group to share with you.

Both of these projects were ventures in new waters for me.

First up is a vintage frame which I bejeweled
with charms, jewelry bits, some fired clay flowers,
and some "antiqued" charms that I love,
which I bought at Vintage Marketplace.
I loved the shape and antique brass look of this frame,
and wanted to keep the embellishments "toned" down,
so as not to take away from the frame, but enhance it.
But I did want a few bright sparkly bits :)
Along the bottom of the frame is a chain with alternating rhinestones and pearls.

I will show you the beautiful frame I received from Laura next post.

This next project is a chest of drawers made from 10 matchboxes!
I have always wanted to try my hand at making one of these ever since
I saw the beautiful ones Laura made for Alpha Stamps.
Here's the 360 tour:

My partner for this swap is Lisa, and I happen to know that peach is her favorite color,
so I thought this paper was perfect, with coordinating papers for the drawers.
The drawers were the trickiest part.
The drawer pulls were made by threading a rhinestone drop on a loop pin,
threading through a beadcap and through a tiny centered hole in the drawer front,
adhering to the front with a little dab of E6000
and threading a silicone pierced earring back to pin in the inside of the drawer
(also with a dab of E6000).  Whew!
The little perfume bottles are made from beads, so fun!

The picture is not of Marie Antoinette, but rather Mme. de Pompadour,
a great beauty and mistress of Louis XV.

I did love making this project, but it is a lot of steps
and working with some teeny tiny pieces.
I may make a few more as I do love the finished product,
and finding tiny things to put in the drawers was so fun!
