Flower Purse
and made this darling little purse.
Actually, Paula constructed the purse and
the class was learning how to make the various fabric flowers.
Paula is a very generous and talented textile artist and has worked on the costumes for "Dancing with the Stars". So now I'm over the moon about making fabric flowers,

Thrift Store Thursday
In general, I made but a modest haul at the thrift stores this Thursday.
However, I am over the moon over this hand crocheted handkerchief trimmed with a sweet little lady in bonnet and dress:
And look at this hand tatted lavendar lace trim:
Any day I can get my hands on hand embroidered linens and lace is a good day!!

Easter and Earthquakes
Easter morning we headed up to lovely San Juan Capistrano and went to mass at the mission basilica. Look at this beautiful alter:
We had champagne brunch at the historic El Adobe Restaurant and back to the kids' house in San Clemente, where my daughter insisted on dressing her cat in Easter finery:
Then the shaking began. It takes a moment or two for you to realize that yes, it IS an earthquake. We all quickly headed for doorways, the shaking continued, so we all headed outside. Lots of people in the street. You just never know when it's going to be the big one. The quake's center was near Mexicali, about 100 miles from San Diego. And it WAS a big one, 7.2. There were lots of aftershocks, including a 5.3 temblor, which is also pretty big. At home, a few things fell off a shelf, and a picture on the wall was askew. So far, so good.

Button, button....
I got hooked on making these cute little button flowers...I thought it would be a good way to use up some of the hundreds of buttons I have...
instead I ended up buying bunches more buttons, because you really need to have five matching buttons to make up the base of the flower. Anyway, once I got started, I just couldn't stop!
