Kaoru Yukimasa (行正) is a member of the Night Troop's Combat Unit and also Makio's aide. He fights with a flaming sword, and typically trains with fellow swordsman Takemitsu.
Appearance[]
Yukimasa is a tall, young man with grayish hair.
Personality[]
Yukimasa is a serious, straightforward, and dependable person. Due to his past, he feels a great deal of anger and mistrust toward Mudou.[1]
History[]
Yukimasa was a former subordinate of Mudou, but was away on a mission the day that Mudou unexpectedly slaughtered many young ability users at the Shadow Organization's training facility, and thus escaped the tragedy unharmed. After that point, Masamori assumed command of Yukimasa and the remaining young subordinates.[2]
Plot[]
Defending Karasumori[]
Yukimasa is deployed to Karasumori with the rest of the Night Troop[3] shortly after Gen Shishio is killed in action, and helps defend the site when Kokuboro attacks soon after.[4] When Masamori forms a rescue team to venture into Kokuboro's collapsing dimension, Yukimasa is assigned to protect Hakota.

Yukimasa carries Dai after the battle
Yukimasa is selected[5] to lead a team (consisting of Dai Yaegashi and three others) on a standard Ayakashi extermination. However, this is a trap set up by Ichirou and Gorou Ougi: Gorou drops the wounded, enraged Bear Deity in the midst of Yukimasa's team, planning to frame them for its death. Yukimasa recognizes it as a god-class creature and yells for his team to run while he tries to hold it off. However, the Catfish Deity arrives unexpectedly and kills the bear. Seizing the opportunity, Gorou attacks the catfish, driving it at Yukimasa's team. In the battle that follows, Yukimasa manages to kill the catfish, but he and Dai are the only survivors.[6]

Sword Hilt: Yukimasa carries an empty sword hilt with him that ignites when he is preparing to battle.[4]
Powers & Abilities[]
Flaming Sword: Yukimasa produces a flaming sword from the sword hilt that he carries.[4] Though its capabilities are never explained, it must be considerably powerful, based on Yukimasa surviving and winning a battle against a god-class creature.[6]
Expert Swordsman: Yukimasa is a highly skilled swordsman, relying entirely on his flaming sword in combat.
High Spiritual Power: Yukimasa is a high-level ability user, judging by his combat strength and rank within the Night Troop.
Trivia[]
- Yukimasa is almost always addressed by his family name. The only person ever to use his given name is Mudou.[7]
