Fritter O'Way

Fritter O'Way is a One-Shot antagonist in Disney's original DuckTales franchise serving as the main antagonist of the episode "Down & Out in Duckburg".

He's the sadistic and jerkish descendant of Diddle O'Way who claimed that he owned Scrooge McDuck's fortune because of a deal their ancestors made over a century ago.

He was voiced by Aron Kincaid.

Biography[]

Fritter O’Way is a greedy and overbearing opportunist who barges into McDuck Manor one day, literally pushing Scrooge McDuck out of his chair to announce a supposed family debt. Producing an old contract signed by Scrooge’s ancestor, Seafoam McDuck, Fritter explains that his own forebear, Diddle O’Way, had once hired Seafoam to deliver a barrel of marbles to the Cape of No Hope. The ship carrying the marbles, however, sank during a fierce storm, and Diddle held Seafoam personally responsible for the loss, claiming all of his possessions as repayment. While Seafoam managed to escape with only a gold watch, Diddle was knocked into the water by falling cargo during their confrontation.

Fritter insists that Scrooge, as Seafoam’s last living descendant, must now repay the centuries-old debt and hand over the gold watch. Fritter’s misfortune is that Scrooge is no longer the owner of McDuck Manor; long ago he sold it for land in the Klondike where he made his fortune. Unfazed, instead of evicting the tenants of McDuck Manor, he sets about taking control of it, forcing the occupants to serve him. He immediately begins an extravagant spending spree on the manor, redesigning it to fit his tastes, and when Scrooge objected, he was thrown out of his own house.

After that initial radio story about Scrooge's disappearance off the Cape of No Hope gave Fritter some initial excitement about Scrooge being gone for good (as there was still a chance that he could have been out hunting marbles), he quickly realised the need to do whatever was necessary to ensure Scrooge did not return, so an angry Fritter set off to confront Scrooge with a shotgun on the newly refurbished yacht. Unfortunately, while approaching the yacht, a large wave knocked Fritter off the boat. Scrooge, quick with a solution, offers Fritter to hold on to the barrel of marbles that was recovered from Seafoam's sunken ship. Desperate, Fritter agrees, but before being rescued, he’s forced to sign away all the money he took from Scrooge.

In the end, Scrooge reclaims his wealth and his home, while Fritter O’Way is left humiliated, scraping orange paint off the walls of McDuck Manor as punishment for his greed and arrogance.
