"Me, My Shell, and I" is the second segment of the twenty-third episode of Ariel. It premiered on May 23, 2025 alongside "Best in Ebb & Flo".
Plot[]
Fernie is playing fin-ball with Flounder before Flounder suggests some other things they can do. Fernie was planning on doing something else: exploring the open sea by himself so he can learn new sea facts and write them in his notebook. Flounder wonders why Fernie is leaving to be by himself. Flounder comes up with an idea to come up with something more fun and more fantastic. so Fernie can play with him for the rest of the day.
Ariel and Lucia are playing Jenga when Flounder arrives, telling them about a fun thing he could play with Fernie. Ariel and Lucia know that Fernie loves and is good at jump rope. Flounder, with a piece of coral as a jump rope, then catches up with Fernie and shows him how it works. Fernie still has plans to be alone for a while, and goes to look for sea life in the trench.
Flounder goes to look for something else Fernie would like, and enlists Ariel and Lucia for help. Later, Ariel, Lucia, and Fernie are playing dress-up and head into the trench. There, Fernie is learning about jellyfish when Flounder mentions him, Ariel, and Lucia's dress-up costumes. Fernie refuses to play dress-up and goes to look at parrot fish at the rainbow sea caves. Flounder mentions the steps he tried to take to get Fernie to join along and how they all didn't work. Ariel states that there must be a reason Fernie keeps going off to play by himself. Ariel and Lucia decide to help Flounder come up with a really good play date idea.
After Lucia mentions it, Ariel decides for her, Lucia, and Flounder to play cricket with Fernie. Meanwhile, Fernie is learning about the parrot fish when Ariel, Lucia, and Flounder arrive, ready to play cricket. This scares the parrot fish away, to the dismay of Fernie. Flounder explains everything, and Fernie recaps that he told Flounder that he wanted to be by himself. Flounder still doesn't get it, and Ariel tells him that she likes to sing when she's alone, as it makes her feel happy. Lucia likes to practice magic by himself, and Flounder states that he likes to be alone while trying a new recipe. Flounder apologizes for following Fernie around all day and chasing away the parrot fish. Fernie is happy that Flounder understands that everyone spends alone time sometimes, and Ariel and her friends decide to play cricket and leave Fernie to finish off his play date by himself. After that, Fernie decides to join them later. Fernie then plays with the parrot fish.
