"Kid Triton" is the second segment of the eleventh episode of Ariel. It premiered on August 30, 2024 alongside "The Brave Little Goby".
Plot[]
King Triton thanks Ariel and her friends for working hard to make Atlantica a wonderful place to live as they play tag. Triton is trying to memorize his speech as Ariel tags him. He can't play, as he's working on the speech for tonight's big dinner. Triton mentions what a speech is, and that no one can eat dinner unless he makes his speech. He was really busy yesterday, and he can't play tag today, as there's a time to play and a time to work.
Ariel tells Fernie, Lucia, and Flounder how busy King Triton is at his work. She wishes he didn't have to work today so he could play with her, like a kid. This gives Lucia an idea to turn Triton into a kid for a little while so that Ariel could have fun with him. Lucia has been working on a potion that turns any grown-up into a kid. Ariel is against the idea, as Triton has a big dinner tonight and everyone is expecting to hear his speech. Flounder shows an example, and Ariel states that playtime would have to wait.
However, when King Triton arrives, thirsty after all the work, he drinks the potion, mistaking it as a juice, and turns into a kid named Tri-Tri as a result. He is having fun swimming around, and decides to play tag with Ariel, who decides to play the game for a little bit. She sings about being a kid and playing with Tri-Tri being a dream come true. They continue to play when Sebastian arrives, having been unable to find King Triton with the guests arriving for their dinner any minute.
Tri-Tri then continues to play, and Ariel decides to turn him back to normal so he can give his big important speech. Lucia decides to give him a drop of potion on his head for it to work, but he has to sit still. Ariel tells Tri-Tri to sit still for just a minute, but he still wants to play tag. Ariel and her friends then chase him, but eventually lose him, so they split up. Eventually, as Lucia is about to give a drop of her potion to Tri-Tri, he swims away when he spots Fernie and Flounder. Later, he uses the trident to make toy sea creatures on the table. He continues to swim away, and Sebastian wonders what to do.
With the guests arriving for their dinner, Ariel apologizes, as she wanted King Triton to play when he needed to work, and now, he won't stop playing. With no one else to give the speech, Ariel decides to give it herself. The guests are surprised, and Ariel gives the speech, stating that Triton is thankful the guests have came. Ariel then gives the speech, which Triton has been working very hard on. Tri-Tri oversees it, and Lucia seizes the opportunity to pour the potion to turn him back to Triton, who hears how great Ariel's speech is. He thanks Ariel for the great speech, and the dinner then begins. Ariel and Flounder recap what Triton did as a kid, and he is proud of Ariel for taking charge during that time. Ariel will miss playing with Tri-Tri, but is glad things are back to normal. Since Triton's work is done now, he, Ariel, and Flounder play tag.
