Enrichment for the pygmy hippos

What's that unusual object floating around? We surprised our pygmy hippos Debbie and Toni with some new enrichment.

A wooden disc studded with apples and carrots caught Debbie’s curiosity, but in the end, neither of them could do much with it in the water. On land, things look quite different: Mom Debbie doesn't hesitate and enjoys the apples and carrots. And Toni? She preferred to keep her distance, inspecting the situation from a safe vantage point...
