How to Draw a Cartoon Lion - Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1: Here him roar! Lets begin with the head. Create a circular-shaped figure that has a heart shaped top and upside down heart-shaped bottom, this one should be much smaller than the top. Add a small dome to the bottom of the chin.
Step 2: Now, at the top of the head, add two large dots under each dome of the heart for the eyes.
Step 3: Move a ways down and in the middle, add an upside two triangle for the nose.
Step 4: Now, draw in two semi-circles off each side of the head. The top of the dome should face horizontally. Leave a small space between these figures and the head itself.
Step 5: Next, let's draw in the mane. Add a horizontal jagged line between the two ears at the top and then continue this jagged line in the vertical direction at the base of each ear. Converge these two vertical lines at the bottom. Add as much texture and ridigity to the lines as you please!
Step 6: Now off the base of the mane, add a pair of vertical parallel lines off the bottom, connecting both at the base with a foot. Move a bit over the the right and repeat the previous step, this time adding a little more curve to the first line of the set. Once again, they should connect at the base with another foot added on.
Step 7: Return to the left leg and draw in a curved vertical line off the left side of the leg for the belly.
Step 8: Now, directly below the left ear, add in a curved line that transitions into the vertical direction. At the belly, draw in another vertical line that will meet the previous one at the base with the last foot of the lion.
Step 9: Lastly, off the back end of the lion on the left, add two curved lines running upward initially and then transition into the downward direction. Add a small tuft of hair to the end for the tail!
