Every spring, local farmers open their farms to visitors during the Piedmont Farm Tour. Visitors can learn about sustainable agriculture and farmstead cheese, see baby animals, gather eggs, and enjoy the beauty of Piedmont farms. They can meet the people who grow their food and see how it is grown.
About the Tour
The tour began in 1995 and is the oldest and largest of its kind in the nation, drawing thousands of farm visits each year. It is co-sponsored by Weaver Street Market and the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA). This year tour features 31 farms.

How to Take the Piedmont Farm Tour April 20 & 21
Farm Tour participants buy a ticket (button) that enables a carload (or a group of bicyclists) to visit ALL the farms 
ALL weekend. A button costs $35 or $30 in advance. Buttons are available:
- At all four Weaver Street Market stores
- Online from Carolina Farm Stewardship Association
- During the tour at any farm
On the Piedmont Farm Tour, farms are open from 2 to 6 PM each day. The tour is self-guided; use the tour brochure or the CFSA’s interactive map to plan your visits and maximize your time at the farms. We suggest visiting 2 to 4 each day. Farms are located throughout the Triangle in Alamance, Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Johnston, Orange, Person, and Wake Counties. The tour occurs RAIN OR SHINE.
Volunteer
CFSA recruits volunteers to help check in visitors at the farms. Volunteers receive a free farm tour tee shirt and a button to tour farms on the day they are not working. Volunteers make it possible! Sign up to volunteer on CFSA’s website.
