زندگی احسان ہی سے ماورا تھی میں نہ تھا

زندگی احسان ہی سے ماورا تھی میں نہ تھا

طاق پر رکھی ہوئی میری دوا تھی میں نہ تھا

میری ہستی آئینہ تھی یا شکست آئینہ

بات اتنی سی نہ سمجھے میرے ساتھی میں نہ تھا

تو ہی تو سب کچھ سہی نا چیز یہ اب کچھ سہی

وہ تو میری ابتدا بے انتہا تھی میں نہ تھا

دیکھتا رہتا ہوں منظر دیدنی نا دیدنی

ہاں مگر حیران چشم ماسوا تھی میں نہ تھا

تو مجھے دشمن سمجھتا ہے تو دشمن ہی سہی

تو بھی واقف ہے کوئی نادان ساتھی میں نہ تھا

میرے اندر کا درندہ کھا رہا تھا پیچ و تاب

اور پھر شائستگی زنجیر پا تھی میں نہ تھا

خیر اب تو چیونٹی بھی دوڑتی ہے کاٹنے

جھولتے تھے جب کہ دروازے پہ ہاتھی میں نہ تھا

zindagi ehsan hi se mawara thi main na tha
taq par rakkhi hui meri dawa thi main na tha

meri hasti aaina thi ya shikast-e-aina
baat itni si na samjhe mere sathi main na tha

tu hi to sab kuchh sahi na-chiz ye ab kuchh sahi
wo to meri ibtida be-intiha thi main na tha

dekhta rahta hun manzar didani na-didani
han magar hairan chashm-e-ma-siwa thi main na tha

tu mujhe dushman samajhta hai to dushman hi sahi
tu bhi waqif hai koi nadan sathi main na tha

mere andar ka darinda kha raha tha pech-o-tab
aur phir shaistagi zanjir-e-pa thi main na tha

KHair ab to chyunTi bhi dauDti hai kaTne
jhulte the jab ki darwaze pe hathi main na tha
