Concept: Identifying Appropriate Subordinating Conjunctions
Subordinating Conjunction
- is a word or phrase that links a dependent clause to an
independent clause. This word or phrase indicates that a clause
has informative value to add to the sentence’s main idea,
signaling a cause-effect relationship or a shift in time and place
between the two clauses.
Independent Clause
- is a group of words that has subject and a verb and requires no
extra information to understand/express a complete thought.
Dependent Clause
- is a group of words that contains a subject and a verb but does
not express a complete thought or cannot stand on their own.
