INDIVIDUAL REPORT
“A good education can change anyone, a good teacher can change everything - Dr.
Sudhir S.Balerao”. Teachers play a critical role in society, so teaching needs to be
considered as a noble profession. It has been a valuable opportunity for English-
majored sophomores to have been taken on a field trip to the workplace to broaden
and enrich learning experience. Á Châu English Center, located in District 12, Ho Chi
Minh City has been considered as an ideal destination for those who intend to choose
English language teaching for their future career.
The first thing that caught my eyes was a high-rise building with a relatively narrow
width. However, the center was constructed and designed cleverly to create an
environment that fosters both learning and enjoyment for students. This includes the
classrooms, the library, testing room, and restrooms and the center is equipped with
air conditions, elevators, bilingual stories, and toys as a reward for good students. This
attention to detail showcased the center’s commitment to providing a conducive
learning atmosphere.
This experience has provided useful information about career path, and also helped
me to perceive the nature of teaching. Firstly, I was really impressed by a clear career
path that benefits professional growth. When you have a clear career path, you will
strengthen a sense of motivation and dedication as you can see clearly the path for
your growth. Therefore, I realize planning and decision-making about a future job
requires a more thorough preparation which can evaluate whether a person’s long-
term career goal aligns with the profession’s mission and values. Furthermore, the
speaker introduced the center’s motto “ Education of the Heart” with three main core
values including Love, Responsibility, and Development. This deeply resonates with
me. In addition to earning a living, a teacher should be committed to helping students
unlock their full potential, impart knowledge and good values among students. As a
teacher, one must bring out the best in students and inspire them to strive for greatness.
Not only do they guide students in academics, but teachers are also responsible for
shaping a child’s future, and encouraging them to move forward to their dream.
After this field trip, I have outlined goals which can help me change my behavior
positively as I strive toward the outcome I desire. Currently, I am studying hard to

acquire a Topik II test as my second language and MOS( Microsoft Office Specialist)
certification this summer, as outlined in my study plan from the Major Orientation
course. Additionally, there are some changes compared to my initial plan. I am about
to obtain TESOL( Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification to
enhance my professional credibility and boost my chances of a good career in this
field. Moreover, I would like to set other goals to achieve such as an IELTS band
score of 7.5 by 2025 and a postgraduate degree (MAE program) since I aspire to build
a long-term career in English education.
After listening to a talk shared by a speaker at Á Chou English Center, I perceive both
my strengths and weaknesses in teaching English. I possess good pronunciation skills
and effective communication abilities, enabling me to convey messages clearly and
fluently. Besides, my strong desire is to uplift and foster students’ positive language
learning attitude through creative and effective lessons. I would like to be a part of
their educational journey and engage them in self-study. That passionate desire would
be my main advantage to keep me on this path until the end and encourage me to
ceaseless effort to deserve a good teacher. On the other hand, I must admit that I
myself easily lose my composure and am rushed, which can sometimes result in
managing the situation inadequately. This also can have adverse effects on my
students’ experience. Therefore, I have recently begun a regular meditation practice to
cultivate self-control and keep a cool head.
The visit to Á Chou English Center offered a wealth of insights into English teaching
including the career path and the nature of teaching. This experience prompted a
reevaluation of my study plan, leading to an adjustment that aligns with my future
specialization and career goals. Last but not least, I would like to say thank you for
this field trip so that sophomores are able to gain hands-on experience and observe in
reality to consider whether they suit English Teaching or not. After that, they can
develop clear plans to make informed decisions and establish a road map for their
career.
