GRADE LEVEL(S) Teaching: Jacinth 6
Student teacher: Sinh Song School: Adventist International Mission School
Mentor teacher(s): Tr. Seema Ajay University Supervisor: Dean. Nalton Lampadan
Instructions: A common student-teaching concern is that the student is often not fully informed of his/her
strengths and weakness during the student-teaching experience. It is suggested that the student teacher
ask these questions of the mentor teacher and/or the supervisor in a conference session. Specific instances
and observations will assist in making this evaluation more helpful.
1. What strong points characterize my teaching?
In my teaching, I stand out by sourcing excellent content for creative PowerPoint slides and
planning lessons in advance. I emphasize accountability, ensuring that students not only receive
information but also comprehend the ideas and concepts. By incorporating engaging visuals and
thoughtful preparation, I aim to make learning enjoyable and effective. My commitment is
reflected in the effort to create a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Through
these strengths, I strive to foster an environment where students connect with the material,
facilitating a deeper and lasting grasp of the concepts. Ultimately, my approach is centered on
providing a rich and meaningful learning experience that goes beyond just conveying information,
aiming to instill a genuine understanding in each student.
2. Have I been making the best possible use of school materials, the available facilities, and
professional opportunities? Illustrate.
In my teaching, I consistently utilize the school materials available to me. Every resource in the
classroom is employed to enhance the learning experience. Whether it's textbooks, visual aids, or
other tools, I make the most of what's accessible to create an engaging and comprehensive
educational environment. By incorporating all available resources, I aim to ensure that students
have a well-rounded and enriched learning journey. My approach emphasizes practicality and
making the best use of the educational tools at hand, fostering a dynamic and effective teaching
atmosphere.
3. Have I shown evidence of ability to learn from experience?
Throughout my internship, I've approached each day as a learning opportunity. From the initial
stages to the conclusion, I've encountered challenges while assisting and teaching, and I've come
to see these challenges as valuable learning experiences. Every mistake has been a chance to gain
insights and refine my abilities. Rather than being discouraged by errors, I've used them as
stepping stones for personal and professional development. This journey has instilled in me a
resilient spirit, enabling me to turn setbacks into progress. Reflecting on my internship, I can
confidently say that learning from mistakes has been instrumental in my growth, shaping me into a
more skilled and adaptable individual in the realm of assisting teachers and contributing to
effective learning environments.
4. Do I appear to relate well with and be accepted by students?
From the start to the end of my internship, I've felt like a teacher, warmly embraced by the
students. They approach me with questions and when they're having difficulties with the content.
It's gratifying to be accepted by the students, creating an environment where they feel
comfortable seeking assistance. This acceptance has made my internship experience fulfilling, as it
reflects a positive connection with the students. Being approachable and supportive has allowed
me to effectively engage with their needs and contribute to their learning. Overall, the sense of
acceptance from the students has been a rewarding aspect of my internship, making me feel like a
valued part of their educational journey.
5. Is discipline too strong, too weak, or about right? How could I improve in this area?
In terms of discipline, I admit that I initially missed the mark a bit because I'm not a certified
teacher. It took me some time to build confidence and develop discipline in my teaching
approach. Recognizing the importance of these aspects, I've made a conscious effort to improve
and refine my skills. Over time, I've become more adept at maintaining a structured and orderly
learning environment. This journey of growth has taught me valuable lessons about the
significance of discipline in teaching. Although it was a gradual process, the experience has shaped
me into a more confident and disciplined educator, contributing to a more effective and
organized teaching style.
6. What specific improvements or suggestions, if any, need to be made concerning my mannerisms,
speech traits, idiosyncrasies of personality, or appearance?
During my internship, I've noticed areas for improvement in my mannerisms, speech, personality
traits, and appearance. Recognizing these aspects as areas of development, I am committed to
refining and enhancing them. This self-awareness is crucial for personal and professional growth,
as it allows me to adapt and present myself in a more effective and polished manner. By actively
working on these aspects throughout the internship, I aim to project a more positive and
professional image, contributing to a more impactful and successful overall experience. The
journey of improvement is an ongoing process, and I am dedicated to making positive changes in
these areas to become a more well-rounded and effective individual in both personal and
professional settings.
7. What additional things do I need to learn or do to become a better teacher?
Being a professional teacher requires understanding students' needs, working hard to create
enjoyable learning experiences, and finding creative approaches. It involves problem-solving skills,
being able to see solutions and address challenges effectively. Additionally, improving
communication with learners is crucial for a successful teaching journey. By honing these aspects
—understanding, creativity, problem-solving, and communication—I aim to become a more
proficient and impactful educator, ensuring a positive and effective learning environment for my
students.
