The Story of Rapunzel by the Grimm Brothers


The story of Rapunzel is a classic fairytale that tells the story of a beautiful girl with
long hair who is locked up in a tower by an evil witch. Because the voice of Rapunzel
the prince discovers Rapunzel and falls in love with her, and together they plan to
escape the tower. The witched discovers their plan and stop them, the story is a
reflection of the dangers of isolation and the importance of freedom.

Background of the Authors/Date of Publishing


The Story of Rapunzel was written by the Brothers Grimm, Jacob and Wilhelm
Grimm, in 1812. The Grimm Brothers were German academics and authors who
collected and published folklore during the 19th century. They are best known for
their collection of fairy tales, which includes classics such as Cinderella, Snow
White, and Hansel and Gretel.

takes her away and locks her up in a tower.
Years later, a prince comes across the tower and hears Rapunzel singing. He falls in
love with her and visits her every day. Eventually, the witch discovers their secret
meetings and casts Rapunzel out of the tower. The prince is blinded by thorns and
wanders the forest searching for Rapunzel. He eventually finds her and their love
heals his blindness.
