PROJECT PROPOSAL OF AN INNOVATION

I. Title:
Project EER "Empowering Early Readers: Leveraging ICT for
Remedial Reading Advancement in Primary
Grades"
II. Program Location: Sta. Cruz Elementary School

III. Program Proponents: Trisha Raven L. Avelino

Mary Christine Joy A. Bulic

Maria Filipina A. Nacional

IV. Time Frame: School Year 2022-2023

V. Background Information:

 Rationale:

In recent times, educational scholars have discovered that

incorporating technology-based teaching methods has proven to be
effective. Leveraging the principles of Constructivism and other learning
theories, ICT-based instruction has demonstrated its potential to
enhance early reading outcomes for students. Considering this evidence,
a logical approach to address remedial reading challenges is to
implement a program that utilizes technological devices for innovative
ICT-driven instruction. The use of multimedia equipment will facilitate
multi-sensory learning experiences, further supporting early reading
development.
We recognize the importance of reading proficiency as a fundamental
skill for academic success and personal growth. However, we
acknowledge that some learners face challenges in their reading
development. To address this issue and foster a culture of literacy, we
propose an innovative reading intervention program aimed at
empowering every learner and instilling a lifelong love for reading. Our
intervention combines cutting-edge technologies, research-based
strategies, and collaborative efforts to create a transformative reading
experience for our students.

 Objectives:

- To improve reading proficiency among struggling readers by the

end of the academic year.
- To employ technology-based instruction in remedial reading
instruction
- To increase students' engagement and motivation towards
reading through interactive and personalized learning
experiences.
- To leverage technology to individualize reading instruction and
provide real-time progress monitoring.

 Target Clientele:

- Pupils with learning difficulties in early reading in Grades I, II

and III.

 Cost Estimate:
Through the generosity of the GPTA of Sta. Cruz Elementary
School, the expenses that will be incurred are to be shouldered by
them through the effort of its active president, Mrs. Dyna D.
Morabe and the proponents. Additionally, we will seek community
partnerships and grants to support the program's sustainability.

 Action Implementation

Gathering information on technology-based instructional materials

suitable for remedial reading purposes.
The advocates plan to conduct a survey on the accessible
ICT-driven teaching resources, which may include DVDs or
interactive educational software, both from local and
international sources via the internet. The primary criteria for
choosing these materials will be their alignment with the
targeted learning competencies outlined in the K to 12
Curriculum. Additionally, they intend to collaborate with
potential suppliers or agents of these instructional materials for
coordination purposes.
Utilizing technology-based teaching methods for remedial reading
instruction.
The proponents will utilize technology-driven teaching
methods, specifically the LEARNING TO READ SERIES DVD, for
chosen students facing challenges in reading within the
framework of the K to 12 Curriculum. The Department of
Education's computer package will be employed to showcase
educational software. Additionally, the Active Board and LCD
Projector will be used to enable students to engage in hands-on
learning experiences with the manipulative activities integrated
into the system..

 Expected Output

This approach aims to enhance the reading skills of

students facing difficulties in early literacy. The proponents will
develop customized learning strategies that utilize ICT-based
instruction, aligning with the targeted learning competencies
specified in the K to 12 Curriculum. The ultimate goal is to
foster improved reading capabilities among these pupils.

VI. Evaluation

The program proponents will carry out an action research study

to assess the impact of the innovation on improving the reading
abilities of students facing difficulties in reading. The aim is to
determine whether the intervention yields significant positive
effects on their reading skills.
