Learning Activity #1: Seven Environmental Sins

Instructions: 
1. Briefly describe each environmental sin. You may refer to internet or any
websites or books 
2. Include the causes, effects and solutions of each environmental sin. 
 
Here are the seven (7) Environmental Sins 

Air pollution– Air pollution is made up of different gases and chemicals that
goes in our atmosphere, causing damage to living organism and to the
environment.
o Causes: Emission from factories and industries, smoke coming from cars.
o Effects: Respiratory disease, Effects the whole atmosphere.
o Solution: Clean energy production, Eco friendly transportation.
 
Waste– These are non-useful material or objects, it can be hazardous or
non-hazardous. Waste came from municipality or companies that generate
waste.
o Causes: Excessive usage of plastic, household waste, Industrial waste.
o Effects: Environmental Impact, Global warming
o Solution: Effective waste management, recycling of materials
 
Resources: Too much being consumed/demands
These are the material available in our environment, it satisfy the need
and wants of people.
o Causes: Products needs a lot of materials like water, metal, and energy.
o Effects: Environmental threat and Drop of the rate of economic growth
o Solution: Proper use of the product and use proper way to produce a
product.
 
Development: Major habitat loss 
These are the activities that develop our way of living, it provides essential
commodities in everyday life of an individual. It involves buildings of dams,
buildings, roads, etc.
o Causes: Mining, Illegal logging
o Effects: Soil erosion, Forest loss
o Solution: Strict regulation on forest and mining management.
 

 
Food Consumption– Amount of food that individuals eat.
o Causes: Rapid growth of population
o Effects: Requires more land, it produce greenhouse gas emissions
o Solution: Food must be consumed, produce responsibly
 

Water use– Amount of water that individual use in can be used for
cooking, bath, water to drink or used to produce materials.
o Causes: Demand on freshwater resources cause the population increases
o Effects: Water quality deterioration, it limits the freshwater supply
o Solution: Save water through our home
 
Over population- when the number of people exceed the limit of an area or
land that result to drop of quality of life.
o Causes: Poverty, Lack of knowledge about Family planning
o Effects: Rise in unemployment, food and water conflicts
o Solution: Proper education, Birth regulation, Proper family planning
