People develop social skills through socialization which begins in the family and continues with peer groups and school. During early childhood, children begin interacting with peers and transition from solitary to group play. Twins raised separately can develop differently due to environmental factors like how they are treated by peers and parents, despite having the same DNA.

I. Activity: Create A Playlist

Create a playlist with song titles or lyrics from songs that cleverly allude to digital
technology about your
description of yourself. Send the link of your spotify/youtube playlist on Google
Classroom. You may
also write them down on paper or list them down in a separate MS Word file.

Answer the following questions:

1. How are people successfully developing their social worlds?

People learn to function efficiently in their social contexts through

socialization. The early experiences of socialization are frequently provided
through social groups. Expectations and norms are communicated and
reinforced by families and subsequently peer groups. In these environments,
people learn to use tangible artifacts of material culture while also being
introduced to society's beliefs and values.
The first agent of socialization is the family. Mothers and fathers, siblings
and grandparents, as well as extended family members, all teach their children
what they need to know. Peer groups are made up of people who are similar in
age, social standing, and share common interests. Peer group socialization
begins at a young age, such as when older children on a playground educate
younger children about taking turns, game rules, and how to shoot a basketball.
This process continues as children develop into teenagers. Adolescents value
peer groups in a new way as they begin to form their own identities independent
from their parents and assert their independence. Lastly, Schools also help
children socialize by educating them about citizenship and patriotism.
2. How are children growing up to become social beings?

During infancy, children begin to express an interest in their peers by

staring at them, showing them a toy, or making noises. Toddlers transition from
solitary activity through parallel play (playing side by side but not together) to
actual group activity by preschool.
The most crucial sieve that influences how modernity will affect their child
is their parents. Although it may appear at first that determining what is healthy
for the child and what is not is simple, negative impacts are unavoidable. A
youngster that grows up in a happy atmosphere, on the other hand, will know
how to deal with the problems of growing up.
Environmental factors are a component of living, and how one deals with
them has an impact on one's level of achievement.
3. How do twins coming from the same mother, when adopted separately, turn out
to be different?

When a single embryo splits in two shortly after fertilization, identical twins
result. It's for this reason that identical twins have the same DNA. They were both
hatched from the same fertilized egg.  Fraternal twins are only possible if a
woman produces two eggs in a single cycle.
According to Turkheimer, scientists used to believe that identical twins
developed differently as they were held to a different standard by peers,
instructors, or parents. As per Turkheimer, studies reveal that siblings typically
have highly similar personalities or intelligence when they are young.
