Role: Conde invested local cinema with a distinct cultural history of its own through
movies that translated onto the silver screen the age-old stories that Filipinos had told

Professor Emeritus and Dean, College of Arts and Letters (2003-2006)
Role:A poet, lirerary critic, publisher and editor of anthologies and children’s literature, a
scholar, professor,conductor of literary workshops, and cultural administrator and
propagator. He exemplifies the artist who has gone beyond the perfection of his craft.
Aware of his own responsibility and role in Filipino culture, he has become a moving
force.

landscape. Founder of “The Diliman Review” and worked as a member on the Board of
Advisers of Likhaan: the University of the Philippines Creative Writing Center and
President of the Philippine Writer’s Associaton.
Most of the contemporary arts are reflective of the experiences and events
being experienced by the artist while doing the art. It shows that it is not
restricted to individual experience but mirrors a collective view and
understanding of the event.
