1.5 SCOPE AND DELIMITATION
The study will be focused on the qualitative process on research. The scope of
the research will only tackle on the 1) The process in properly designing a facility for
cultural importance, specifically a cultural complex and museum and the adaptability of
experiential approach in the planning and learning environment of the proposed
site2)the socio-related factors specifically in the data of ethnolinguistics population
and such issue that contributes and is generally part of the culture of the chosen region
3)the community to where the proposed development is to be located ,the target users
of the facility, and the needed spaces for the propose development.
Experiential approach of the design will only be focused on the perceivable basis
of learning specifically in terms of the spatial qualities that could be established
architecturally. The research cannot guarantee to fully solve the problems in relation to
cultural aspects or sectors. Moreover, the proposal excludes the preparation of cost
estimates, structural analysis that includes electrical, mechanical, sanitary, structural
computations of building loads, structural system, and other non-related architectural
discipline.
1.6 JUSTIFICATION OF THE STUDY
In the present time where the effects of globalization are in its great prosperity,
and as mass culture continues to flourish, there is a need for a facility that will tackle,
enliven, protect and promote the native culture of the country. Bringing non-mainstream
groups into the center of civic activity can provide fresh perspectives and shed new light
on a much more understandable perspective. The proponent seeks to establish a
cultural center that will serve as a primary institution for the undervalued cultural
essence of the country specifically in one of the regions of the Philippines. Furthermore,
there is a need for a government institution that dignifies and include the socio-cultural
factors of the native groups.
The proposed development will be served as a place for learning, mitigation of
knowledge, promoting the diversified culture and history of the chosen site, supporting
people empowerment, understanding the diversity of the nation. The creation of a multi-
cultural complex . Moreover, the development will seek to innovate the proposed
facilities on the basis of involving socio-cultural aspects of the users on the spatial
planning and design of the building through adapting experiential approach in
architecture.
1.7 DEFINITION OF TERMS
1.7.1 CONTEXTUAL DEFINITION
Multi-cultural -multicultural is something that incorporates ideas, beliefs or people from
different regions, and cultural backgrounds.
Cultural Complex -a complex or a public building or site for the exhibition or promotion
of arts and culture, especially of a particular region or people.
Museum- The traditional role of museums is to collect objects and materials of cultural,
religious and historical importance, preserve them, research into them and present them
to the public for the purpose of education and enjoyment

1.8 CONCEPTS
Ethnocentric -refers to the development focusing mainly and in favor of the
ethnic groups specifically classified as an ethnolinguistic group in a region. Ethnocentric
includes the socio-related factors, and historical dynamics of the ethnic groups.
Experiential architecture- experiential architecture focused on the spatial
attributes which primarily affects the experience of the user. By incorporating,
perceivable , and evoking cognitive approach in the spatial planning, the intended user
could have a much remarkable impression of the proposed building.
Mass culture-refers to the set of beliefs and tradition practice by the mass
media. The concept of mass culture defines all the power, behaviors, mythos, and
phenomena which are difficult to resist and which are produced by industrial techniques
and spread to a very large masses.
Spatial Planning -refers to programming and planning the architectural spaces
intended for the user.
Multi-cultural Complex- refers to a place or institution that promotes unity in the
society by using their resources to ensure understanding and appreciation for the
various groups and cultures that exist in that society.
