WIRELESS LAN SETUP SHARP
For the MX-M905 series, two connection methods are available for Wireless LAN:-
Infrastructure Mode:
Infrastructure mode allows for wireless communication between two client devices via a host (access point).
The MFP connects to an access point to obtain an IP address.
Simultaneous usage of Access Point mode and wired connection is allowed however, mobile devices will not
be able to connect to the intranet/internet when connected to the MFP Wireless LAN.
26
SHARP WIRELESS LAN SETUP
Configuring Wireless LAN:
Before configuring the MFP device onto a customer network (using Infrastructure Mode), the following
information from the customer’s network will be required:-
SSID [Name of Wireless network].
Security Type [WEP, WPA, WPA2 etc].
Level of Encryption (if necessary) [AES or TKIP].
Wireless Password.
Procedure:
Wireless LAN can be configured via the MFP Operation Panel and MFP Web Page. The following example

SHARP PRINT RELEASE SHARP
The MX-M905 series can be configured for Pull / Find Me Printing by using the standard Sharp Print Release
system (rather than external server). Sharp Print Release is a printing feature whereby a user’s print job is
held on a Master MFP, and is released by the user on either a Master or Client MFP supporting this feature.
Once enabled, approx. 64GB of storage is available on the MX-M905 Master MFP. It is also recommended
that a maximum of 5 Client MFPs can connect to one Master MFP.
MX-M905 can also be configured as a Master or Client MFP within a MX-3050N-6070N Print Release
environment however, print restrictions will apply. Only monochrome output is possible when releasing
colour print jobs on MX-M905 and when using the MX-M905 print driver for Sharp Print Release, only
monochrome output is supported when releasing print jobs on MX-3050N-6070N series.
Sharp Print Release can be used with or without authentication. When authentication is disabled, all print
jobs held on the master can be displayed/released on any Master or Client MFP by any User.
1. Open the Device Webpage and enter the following menu (Administrators password will be required):-
System Settings – Printer Settings – Print Release Settings
32
SHARP SHARP PRINT RELEASE
Configuring the CLIENT MFP:
1. Open the Device Webpage and enter the following menu (Administrators password will be required):-

MASTER MFP device.
2. When using Add Printer method, run Auto Configuration from the Configuration tab of Printer
Properties.
33

update/recover the firmware by transferring data to the MFP PWB, SCU PWB, PCU PWB, FAX PWB, and
various options by means of a USB memory.
1. Power off the MFP and remove the MFP Rear Cabinet & Screws.
3. Install the USB Memory containing the MX-M905 firmware into the USB slot.
Note: The Firmware file (*.sfu) must only be saved on the main or one level lower directory of the
USB Memory.
4. Power ON the MFP device - the UPDATE PROGRAM INIT PLEASE WAIT boot menu should appear
after approx 10 seconds, followed by VERSION CHECK CONFIG: information:-.

SHARP EEPROM HANDLING PROCEDURE
WARNING:
Never execute Sim16 to clear U2 trouble WITHOUT investigating the root cause of U2 trouble by using the
following procedure:-
1. Ensure to follow ESD procedures (using an earth strap) while handling the PWBs as EEPROM data may
become corrupted due to static charge.
2. Never insert the EEPROM to the socket in reverse.
3. U2 trouble occurs 100% if the machine is turned on after inserting the EEPROM in reverse. Execution
of Sim16 to clear this U2 trouble will lead to corrupted data which cannot be fully recovered in the
field.
4. Make sure that PCU, MFP & SCAN EEPROMs are not switched - label each EEPROM for identification
purposes before removing from the PWB.
5. Please handle EEPROMs with care to prevent bending or damage of pins. They will be broken if bent
several times. (This type of trouble has been reported many times.).
6. Do not use Styrol Foam etc. for packing during the transportation of EEPROM. Styrol Foam easily
generates static charge. In some cases, EEPROM is damaged just by placing it into Styrol Foam.
7. Make sure to use black sponge (anti-static) for packing during transportation. The black sponge is also
used to pack EEPROM provided as service parts.
CAUTION:
Please note that counter data and machine adjustment values are recorded in the EEPROM. If the data in
EEPROM is corrupted, it is impossible to recover. In such cases, the only solution will be to initialise the
EEPROM therefore, counter data and adjustment values will be reset to “0” or “default”. Once all the
adjustment values are set to default, it will be necessary to readjust all the adjustment values (i.e. perform a
complete run-up procedure).
As previously mentioned, the data in EEPROM will be corrupted after Sim 16 execution therefore:-
In such cases, EEPROM may have been inserted in reverse or MFP and PCU EEPROM may have been
switched.
Turn off the machine without execution of Sim16, install the correct EEPROM into the proper position
(on the PWB), power on the machine again and then execute Sim16. This way, U2 trouble should be
cleared.
Sim16 should only be executed to clear U2 trouble if it occurred without performing any repair or
maintenance as such.
As previously mentioned, execution of Sim16 won’t clear artificially-generated U2 errors. Instead, it may
actually damage the EEPROM, HDD storage and backup data.
47
HDD REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE SHARP
Most data that is stored on the HDD can be backed up and reinstalled following replacement or HDD failure.
If the HDD is operating normally before replacement, backup the data and then reinstall the data onto the
replacement HDD.
48
SHARP HDD REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE
HDD Replacement Procedure
2. When there is FAX/Internet Fax received data present, use SIM66-62 to back up the image data to
USB memory (PDF file), and then provide the PDF data to the user. (This data cannot be restored to
the machine).
49
mSATA SSD REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE SHARP
Some data that is stored on the mSATA SSD can be backed up and reinstalled following replacement or
failure. If the mSATA SSD is operating normally before replacement, backup the data and then reinstall the
data onto the replacement mSATA SSD.
