School Philosophy, Method

of Teaching & Curriculum
Pollywogs Child Development Centers
philosophy is based on Developmentally
Appropriate Practice, in which the childrens age,
individual characters and socio-cultural
backgrounds are taken into consideration. The
schools curriculum, therefore, is guided by child
development knowledge and is based on the
childrens interests.
It provides an interesting, fun and safe
environment within which the child can freely
explore. The curriculum includes storytelling
activity; pretend play; the use of structured and
unstructured materials such as water, sand, blocks
and puzzles; math; reading; and writing activities.
The school adopts a theme-based and integrated
curriculum based developmental age level of the
child. For example, topics covered could include
places in the community and the people in them
(school, shops) subjects in nature, animals and
plants, etc. Math, science and literacy skills are
integrated into these themes.

The Preschool Experience

A place to grow and learn for 2 to 6 years old.
The school aims to provide an exciting and
stimulating environment for the physical,
cognitive, language, emotional, social and moral
development of young children. The teachers
are professionally trained to influence a childs
attitude towards education and to allow a child
to discover the joys of learning.
The school believes that children should be
treated with love and respect and they are
encouraged to explore their thoughts, ideas,
and emotions. (John Dewey)
The school activities are designed to provide
each child with learning experiences and are
developmentally appropriate to their needs
(DAP).
Learning to play cooperatively, share and
respect other children is a very important part
of a childs overall education.
The school also values the different learning
styles that can motivate students and eliminate
unfair labeling. Learning styles goes hand in
hand with Gardners Multiple intelligences as a
way of thinking. It is an attitude about people
which allows similarities and differences.
The school provides predictable routines and
schedules to keep children learn and grow.
