Founded by a small group of Minnesotans in 1968, Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL) has worked ever since to secure protection for innocent human life from conception until natural death through effective education, legislation, and political action.

 

MCCL contends that human rights belong to all human beings, regardless of their age, size, ability, health, or dependency. Everyone counts. That's why we work to defend unborn children from abortion and to support their mothers. It's why we oppose efforts to legalize euthanasia and assisted suicide, which endanger all of us and devalue the lives of the elderly, sick, and disabled. It's why we think even the youngest members of our species should be treated with respect rather than like disposable research material.

Every member of the human family has equal human rights. Every innocent human being deserves protection from lethal violence. That's the pro-life view.

As Minnesota's oldest and largest pro-life organization and the sole Minnesota affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee, MCCL has chapters and members all across the state. Together, we're changing hearts and minds, empowering pregnant women, enacting laws, and saving lives.

OUR THREE-PART STRATEGY

Education. MCCL informs, persuades, and motivates the public. We share the pro-life message through educational materials, events, presentations, digital outreach, booths and displays,

and more.

​

Legislation. MCCL is the leading pro-life voice at the state Capitol in St. Paul. We shape and advocate for pro-life legislation and oppose bills that undermine existing protections. We mobilize pro-life citizens in support of these efforts, and raise public awareness through the media and events like the MCCL March for Life.

 

Despite limitations imposed by the courts and recent extreme actions by the legislature, MCCL has helped enact numerous measures that have reduced abortions and supported women.

Political action. MCCL's non-partisan political action committees (PACs) support pro-life candidates for public office. The success of MCCL-backed candidates has helped produce abortion-reducing laws and policies in both Minnesota and Washington D.C.

Abortions in Minnesota dropped 48 percent between 1980 and 2019. Yet now they are sharply increasing as lawmakers have repealed most pro-life protections. Both unborn children and their mothers deserve so much better.
