  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Hot hitting during rehab assignment

Westburg (hamstring) went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and a walk in Saturday's rehab game with Triple-A Norfolk.

Westburg is up to seven minor-league appearances during his assignment, having now slashed .360/.429/.760 with two homers, four doubles and five RBI over 28 plate appearances. It appears as though the Orioles are taking a cautious approach with the 26-year-old infielder, who has been sidelined since late April due to a left hamstring strain and subsequent setback. It remains unclear how much more action Baltimore wants Westburg to get in the minors, but he appears to be on the verge of a return.

  • Orioles' Coby Mayo: Hitting bench Saturday

Mayo is not in Saturday's lineup against the A's.

Mayo has been in the lineup for five of Baltimore's last six games since being recalled from the minors. He's gone 3-for-15 in that span but has struck out only three times. Ryan O'Hearn will take over at first base while Adley Rutschman will serve as the designated hitter.

  • Orioles' Tyler O'Neill: Embarking on rehab assignment

O'Neill (shoulder) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

O'Neill is in the final stages of his recovery from a left shoulder impingement that caused him to land on the injured list May 16. He may need only a couple of rehab outings under his belt before rejoining the Orioles, though it will depend on how his shoulder reacts to increased activity. O'Neill has two separate stints on the IL this season and a .188/.280/.325 slash line with two home runs and 10 RBI across 93 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Braxton Bragg: Working through forearm injury

Bragg will not make his scheduled start for Double-A Chesapeake on Saturday due to mild right forearm discomfort, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

The 24-year-old prospect will undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury and a potential timeline for a return. Bragg has a 2-1 record across seven games (six starts) in Double-A this season with a 1.82 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 49:11 K:BB across 34.2 innings.

  • Orioles' Dylan Carlson: Goes yard Friday

Carlson went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and two walks in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Athletics.

Carlson has gone 4-for-16 (.250) with two walks and three RBI over his first five games in June. The outfielder opened the scoring with his second-inning blast Friday. He's up to three long balls, 11 RBI, six runs scored, three doubles and one stolen base while batting .222 with a .688 OPS through 69 plate appearances this season.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Homers in three-hit effort

Holliday went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Athletics.

Holliday had gone just 3-for-22 (.136) over his previous six games, though two of his hits in that span went for extra bases. This was his fifth three-hit game of the season. The infielder is up to eight homers, 27 RBI, 24 runs scored, five stolen bases and a .268/.320/.445 slash line through 56 contests. Holliday has been steady enough lately to retain the leadoff spot in the lineup since mid-May.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Tagged for five runs in loss

Kremer (5-6) allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two over 5.1 innings to take the loss Friday versus the Athletics.

This was a step in the wrong direction for Kremer after he had limited opponents to one run over his last 11.1 innings. The Athletics put up four runs in the third inning Friday and added one more in the fifth, which was the last run of the game. Kremer has allowed five or more runs on five occasions this season, pitching to a 4.98 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 53:19 K:BB across 72.1 innings over 13 starts. The right-hander is tentatively projected for a tough home start versus the Tigers next week.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Out multiple months

Mountcastle was diagnosed with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain Friday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Mountcastle's hamstring sent him to the 10-day injured list Saturday, but now that the severity of his injury has been revealed, he's expected to miss between 8-12 weeks. Even in a best-case scenario, the 28-year-old's absence will extend into August, but he still has a decent chance to make it back before the end of the regular season. Coby Mayo and Ryan O'Hearn have been splitting first-base duties since Mountcastle landed on the IL, and the pair will presumably continue to share starts going forward.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Getting Friday off

Henderson isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Henderson will get a breather during Friday's series opener after going 3-for-13 with a homer and five strikeouts during Baltimore's last series against the Mariners. Jorge Mateo will fill the vacancy at shortstop and bat ninth.

  • Orioles' Scott Blewett: Shipped back to O's

Baltimore acquired Blewett from Atlanta on Friday in exchange for cash considerations.

The right-hander was set to be designated for assignment by Atlanta after giving up five earned runs over 1.1 innings Thursday versus Arizona, but he'll instead be sent to the Orioles. Even with that ugly performance, Blewett has a 3.91 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 24:11 K:BB across 25.1 innings this season. He appeared in two games for the Orioles in April before being dealt to Atlanta.

  • Orioles' Jordyn Adams: DFA'd by Baltimore

The Orioles designated Adams for assignment Friday.

The 25-year-old had his contract selected by Baltimore last weekend, and he'll be jettisoned from the 26-man and 40-man rosters after going 0-for-1 with a run scored in five contests. Adams could return to Triple-A Norfolk, where he had a .661 OPS in 39 games this year, if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

  • Orioles' Ramon Laureano: Back from injured list

The Orioles reinstated Laureano (ankle) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

The veteran outfielder has been sidelined by an ankle sprain for the past couple weeks, but he's ready to rejoin the O's after going 3-for-8 with a double and a homer during a two-game rehab assignment. Laureano has a .266/.320/.532 slash line in 103 plate appearances this season, and he should be a regular in the lineup now that he's healthy since Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) and Cedric Mullins (hamstring) are still on the injured list.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Smacks eighth homer in win

Henderson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Mariners.

Henderson smacked his eighth homer of the season, and he's really begun to settle in following a delayed start to the year due to an intercostal strain. Over his last 30 games, the star shortstop is batting a .279 (34-for-122) with five long balls, five doubles, 11 RBI, and 18 runs scored. Henderson entered Thursday with a top-notch 55.3 percent hard-hit rate, so perhaps he even has some room for improvement in the power department.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Homers again Thursday

Rutschman went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in Thursday's 4-3 win over Seattle.

Rutschman tucked a Bryan Woo slider just inside the right-field foul pole in the sixth inning, tying the game 3-3. Rutschman looks to finally be turning things around at the plate after an extended slump to start the year -- he's now 7-for-13 with a pair of homers in his last three contests. The 27-year-old backstop is slashing .225/.314/.375 with seven homers, 26 runs scored and 18 RBI through 226 plate appearances this season.

  • Orioles' Bryan Baker: Second save in five days

Baker earned the save Thursday against the Mariners, allowing one hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

For the second time in under a week, Baker was called upon to protect a one-run lead after Felix Bautista pitched the day prior. Baker made the most of the opportunity again, working around a two-out single to close out a 4-3 victory. The 30-year-old Baker has been one of Baltimore's better relievers this season, and he could be in position for more save chances going forward as the O's continue to avoid deploying Bautista in back-to-back games. Baker has posted a 2.57 ERA with a 0.96 WHIP and 37:6 K:BB across 28 innings this season.

  • Orioles' Zach Eflin: Picks up fifth win

Eflin (5-2) earned the win Thursday over the Mariners, allowing three runs on eight hits over six innings. He struck out seven.

Eflin was able to scatter the majority of Seattle's hits, allowing just a two-out RBI single to Cal Raleigh in the third inning before Raleigh smacked a two-run homer in the fifth. The Orioles would ultimately rally for a 4-3 victory, giving Eflin his second straight win. The 31-year-old right-hander sports a 4.47 ERA with a 1.12 WHIP and 31:6 K:BB through eight starts (46.1 innings) this season. Eflin tentatively lines up for a road matchup with the Tigers in his next outing.
