Nearly 27,000 pounds of select TGI Fridays frozen boneless chicken bites have been recalled due to the potential presence of foreign material. The boneless chicken may contain pieces of clear, hard plastic, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

What TGI Fridays Products Are Recalled?

The recalled product is TGI Fridays 15-ounce frozen Boneless Chicken Bites Honey BBQ Chicken, which was sold at retailers nationwide. The Honey BBQ Chicken bites are the only TGI Fridays product impacted by the recall. All other boneless chicken bite flavors are safe to eat—as well as TGI Fridays’ other frozen products.

The recalled chicken bites were produced on Oct. 3, 2023, and have a best-by date of Dec. 26, 2024. Check your freezers for any Honey BBQ Chicken bites with that best-by date, plus the lot code KL3K03 and establishment number P-20287.

You can find full label information and photos on the USDA’s site to confirm if you do, in fact, have the recalled TGI Fridays chicken.

If you have the recalled product in your freezer, you should not consume the chicken as it may be contaminated with clear plastic pieces. Instead, throw the chicken bites away or return them to your place of purchase.

FSIS says there haven’t been any reports of injury or illness caused by consuming the recalled Honey BBQ Chicken bites. However, the recall was initiated after customers complained about finding hard plastic pieces under the breading of the chicken.

FSIS is working to ensure the recalled chicken is no longer available to consumers.

If you have any questions about the recall, you can contact Simmons Prepared Foods Inc., which produces TGI Fridays’ boneless chicken bites, at 1-800-280-7185.
