On Nov. 9, Costco announced that a select batch of Butter Croissants was recalled because the salt used to make the croissants was found to be contaminated with foreign matter. Costco did not disclose what was found in the salt, and the manufacturer, Compass Minerals, has not released a statement, either. However, the contamination makes the butter croissants unsafe to consume. The recall impacts all Butter Croissants sold at Costco locations nationwide with the item number 1199652 and best-by dates between Sept. 8, 2024, and Nov. 10, 2024. Because the croissants are past their expiration date, you shouldn’t be able to find them on shelves anymore. However, if you still have the recalled Butter Croissants, you should not eat them. Instead, return the bakery item to your local Costco for a full refund. Costco’s recall announcement comes a few weeks after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recalled multiple bread products that were manufactured with Compass Minerals salt in Canada. The Sifto brand salt, which is manufactured by Compass Minerals Canada Corp., was found to contain pieces of metal and led to the recall of breads, buns, batters, and more across retailers in Canada. Costco and Compass Minerals have not announced if the Nov. 9 U.S. recall is linked to those in Canada. Costco didn’t announce any reports of adverse effects caused by eating the croissants. However, if you have any questions regarding the recall, you can contact Costco customer service at 1-800-955-2292. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why! Other Submit
