Smoked cabbage is hands-off and a perfect side dish for whatever floats your boat. While you've got that smoker fired up, quarter a head of cabbage and slap it on in that last bit of cooking time. It pairs well with beef, pork, and chicken.

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 4 servings

  • 1 small head green cabbage, quartered

  • 1/2 cup olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1/4 cup real bacon bits

Directions

  1. Preheat a smoker to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C) according to manufacturer’s directions. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.

  2. Place cabbage wedges on prepared baking sheet.

  3. In a small bowl, whisk olive oil, steak seasoning, salt, and pepper until evenly combined. Brush mixture over the cabbage wedges.

  4. Place baking sheet on the grate of the preheated smoker and smoke for 1 1/2 hours. Transfer to a serving dish and top with bacon pieces. Serve immediately.
