Recipes Main Dishes Burger Recipes Cheeseburger Recipes Pan-Fried Onion Cheeseburger 5.0 (1) 1 Review 2 Photos I make these pan-fried onion cheeseburgers with caramelized onions and sharp Cheddar cheese. I serve them on brioche buns and eat them plain. My hubby likes to add lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and more fresh onions! With or without all of the toppings, they are delicious. Mix thoroughly; shape into 3 balls and set aside. Melt butter in a large skillet. Add onion; cook until starts to brown, 5 to 7 minutes. Transfer to a plate. Add 3 ground beef balls to the same skillet; flatten with a cast-iron press or a heavy spatula. Divide and place onions on top of patties; cook 3 to 4 minutes. Carefully flip patties over so onions are now on the bottom, press again. Top each patty with 1 slice Cheddar cheese; cook until cheese is melted and burgers have reached desired doneness, 3 to 4 minutes. Serve on brioche buns. Cook's Note: Any cheese can be used in place of the sharp Cheddar.
